Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum reviews

I purchased Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum today due to positive reviews I saw here from past and present. Usually I research reviews on many different sites before purchasing something, but today I only did that after I'd purchased it. Just now I saw on MUA claims that a lot of the positive reviews there are fakes. I'll try to include a link to the page but I don't know if it will work here.

http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=143130/Mad-Hippie---Vitamin-C-Serum/Unlist...

So I'm just asking for a little reassurance here from anyone who really has used this serum. It's very affordable so I'm not beating my head against the wall for buying it, but it would just be good to hear that many of you here really do use and love it.

If I don't like it for any reason, I'm planning to go back to NuFountain 20% C + Feurlic which I like, so I'm not really looking for vitamin C serum recommendations. I want to try Mad Hippie b/c the only C serums I've tried have been L-absorbic acid and I want to try one that isn't, to see if I notice a difference or have a preference.

Thanks ladies.

Re: Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum reviews

I used it for about 3 months and really liked it! I switched over to Paula’s Choice Vit C serum just to give that a try and I like the results but it’s also made my skin a bit dry where the Mad Hippie didn’t. It’ a good product for the price.

Re: Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum reviews

(Paging JeanLouiseFinch!)

I have been using a sample of Ole Henriksen's Truth Serum (2oz $65 via QVC) and have enjoyed using it for daytime before my moisturizer, but have been running low and have been looking for an alternative and stumbled across good reviews for Mad Hippie myself.

Someone was kind enough to send me a sample of it, which I have only now used once so I can't really speak to its effectiveness, but I do like the texture and ease of application and it looks like the price is very reasonable (1oz $23 via Amazon) compared to many Vitamin C serums I have come across.

Re: Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum reviews

I just began using this not long ago. It's the first Vitamin C product I've ever used so I'm really on the fence about it's effectiveness. I can say that I like the texture, a few drops go a long way, price is good, and I've had no problems with the product. I have normal to dry skin and this doesn't seem to dry me more.

Re: Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum reviews

Could you please clarify you mean about the positive reviews being fakes? How do you know that?

I've been using MH Vitamin C Serum every morning since last October. I haven't had any negative reaction at all and like it very much. You're right that there is a different form of Vitamin C in it (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate) which is more stable than L-Ascorbic Acid.

As much as I like Mad Hippie, I've recently come across one by Azure Naturals on Amazon Prime that's also got a 20% Vitamin C (SAP form), ferulic acid, and has 4.5 star rating out of 5, in 240 reviews. It's very tempting.

Re: Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum reviews

I tried it but it caused irritation for my skin so I wasn't able to use it long enough to know if it would have ever done anything for my skin (other than irritate it). I think my skin didn't like it due to the Grapefruit extract and possibly the clary sage. My skin doesn't tolerate these potentially irritating ingredients.

Also, L-ascorbic acid is THE gold standard for vitamin C in the scientific community so if you are using that and like it, I don't think you will get any better results from a different type of C, unless you are experiencing irritation and that is why you want to try a different type.

The only real way to know if it will work for you is if YOU try it. Smiley Happy I don't know how anyone can know for sure if reviews are fake or not. i don't know where you got that information but I would be suspicious of claims from someone that hundreds of reviews are all fake (could that be coming from competing brands?? hmmm).

Re: Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum reviews

I am on probably my 3rd (or 4th???) bottle of MH Vit. C. I have Rosacea and it does not exacerbate the issue. I really like it. I notice when I don't use it. My skin seems dull and a bit lifeless. It is the first thing I put on after I shower in the morning.

JLF, you keep steering me toward products I like so this just went on my Amazon Wish List for later. The reviews are pretty outstanding.

Funny you should mention the Azure Naturals as I ordered this last night to compare with the MH.
