First of all, I know this won't be for everyone, but I wanted to share what's helping me. I have struggled with thinning, baby fine hair for years. I went to the derm for a check up and she asked me if it bothered me. Well, she put me on spironolactone. I have to say, it worked for me. So we'll, that I stopped taking it because my new hair was making me hot! I started taking it again in January of this year. But noticed that I wasn't getting the results I had previously. My hair is so oily and it just felt gunky in spite of my using a special clarifying shampoo and not getting conditioner near my scalp. I had an idea. I have a foaming cleanser by ddf the blue kind. It has salicylic acid in it, and I thought if this is good for unclogging my face pores, I'll try it on my hair folicals. I used it with zero discomfort, after I shampooed. Let it set while I showered, then rinsed and conditioned. My scalp felt so clean just like my face. I've used it twice a week for a couple of weeks now and I have a ton of baby tiny hairs coming in, and it has given me the volume at my roots that I have never had!! My hair doesn't seem to get as oily as it did. I wanted to share my new secret. I truly hope this helps someone else! <3

I'm so happy for you! Please keep us posted on your progress. Do you shampoo with anything else in between using the DDF twice a week? Thanks for sharing and good luck!

Scalp treatments with Tea Tree oil will do the same thing and is cheaper, but I will tell you that conditioner just worsens the oil. I have super oily, super fine, super thick hair, and I do not condition. I will use moroccan oil on my ends only after it is towel dried a few times a week since I wash every night. I use Shea Moisture Thickening Shampoo found at WalGreens for around $10 or BOGO free when they have a sale (While I don't need thickening I need volume and lift. This is the only one that has worked.) I love it, plus it smells great. I don't condition until I have hair below my shoulders. I use a boar bristle brush in the morning to pull down what oils came at night. I either blow dry or not, but usually just air dry while I sleep and spritz with water and styling cream in the AM and blow dry a bit then style with a flat iron. This way I don't use all the typical heat to blow out my long pixie/really short bob and a flat iron. Their products are great. I love their raw shea butter soap with frankincense and myrrh. Their raw shea butter is also great!

I wonder then if any cleanser with salicylic would help? I have extra Skinn A.M. cleanser on hand. I also heard that masking with Castor oil helps, because it clears clogged follicles. I may try the combination! I've lost a lot of hair due to methotrexate and Arava for my psoriatic arthritis. I've stopped using WEN and already see some hair growing back just from that, but the pretty pink scalp look just doesn't work for me! Lol! Good luck beauties! :-)

So far I do not have a serious thinning problem; however, I use Avalon organics Thickening shampoo with Biotin complex and it really does thicken the hair. Just an FYI
