MY Instyler broke!

Hey all

My instyler BROKE!! My mom got it for me for Christmas last year and have used it a few times maybe 4 times a month. The other day I was using it and the flat round part that goes over the barrel fell off and hit my ear. It was on high and burnt the heck out of the top of my ear! I have no idea what to do. I don't think ill be able to return it because it has been well over a year, has anyone else had this problem? I am so upset I now have a $100 piece of JUNK! Anyone have any ideas on what to do? TIA
