@Harpawrote:
According to Dr. Obagi: The oil that Micellar water leaves behind can block other products, like anti-aging creams, from penetrating the skin.
If you start wiping your skin with the Micellar water for example, and it leaves that oil sheen on the surface, you’re going to have trouble with that skin care regimen penetrating the way we want.
"The doctor recommends using the Micellar water if you’re on the go, but not as a daily facial cleanser and moisturizer."
I never trust the advice of someone like Obagi who is peddling his own products. Plus he's never seen my skin.
I use the micellar water and everything else skincare Josie, I take collagen gummies and biotin, and my skin looks great and I always get compliments and people take me for younger than I am all the time.

@LoriLori I’m confused. You don’t take advice from Dr. Obagi, someone peddling their own products, but use everything Josie? She peddles her wares 3 times a week on Q.

Another trend. I purchased Micellar wipes to remove makeup. They were nice but nothing for me to go overboard about. I will stick with my Target wipes.

I think micellar wipes are similar to any makeup remover wipes. They do a good job but don't remove everything. Sometimes I use a Neutrogena wipe to remove my makeup and it does a decent job but when I use a cotton pad with micellar water right after it, it removes a lot more makeup than the wipe did. From my experience, using micellar water on a cotton pad works well as the second part of a cleanse. That's just me though. As someone with aging, acne prone skin, not a lot works for me. I am very happy that I finally found something that removes all of my makeup without making me break out.
Nothing is right for everyone. Try it and if it works...great. If it doesn't, move on. Like the saying goes "you do you". No reason to judge or dismiss others based on what they like.

I looked M water up in case I did want to try it. (I don't!)
But not on the advice of Obagi.
When I found what I quoted previously, I thought it might be helpful to include for the sake of the discussion, since no one raised that point.
I wanted to know the difference between an essence and the M water. Apprently, there is a difference. I use an essence, which is not part of cleansing, but of hydration.

Micellar water goes back a couple hundred years! I only use it to remove the last vestiges of mascara under my eyes after cleansing. I use the L'Oreal brand as it is the only one that does not seem to leave a residue on my skin. I find it can't handle a full face of make-up very easily. I use it to "mop up"!

Maybe that's the L'Oreal one, because the Garnier removes all my makeup including full coverage liquid foundation to waterproof mascara, I don't use the wipes though. I use the liquid on makeup remover pads

@Shanus, sorry if I wasn't clear. I don't take advice about what NOT to use from those who peddle their own products. Josie's selling her own products but I've never heard her put down anyone else's. Just as the La Roche Posay micellar water for sensitive skin is my holy grail cleanser.
Someone selling something else, whether it's Obagi or Paula or whoever, could never convince me micellar water is not good for my skin because my skin says otherwise. Does that make sense?

I haven't tried it yet but it does sound interesting.

@Mollyqrwrote:I currently use the Garnier Blue Cap micellar water to remove my waterproof eye make up...its a biphase and has to be shaken up but it does a wonderful job removing my cement like, waterproof eye makeup... I no longer buy more expensive makeup removers.
I also use either Simple's hydro boost water or Bioderma for my morning cleanse. I tried the It Cosmetics one but found it to be no better than the Garnier or Simple Hydro Boost waters.
Note: I did not like Simple's first micellar water... the one I like and use is the new Hydro Boost... larger bottle and better product.
So, I find these to be a great addition to my routine. Great product at a reasonable cost. I have not tried any others.
I have very sensitive, combo skin.
I have the liquid version, too, but it is the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Makeup Removing Towelettes - for waterproof makeup (blue package) that I love! I use them to remove my makeup. I use a facial cleanser after my makeup is off.

Here’s what I do not understand & was interested to read. Many women use the micellar water or wipes as an extra cleanser to remove eye makeup or leftover makeup before or after their other cleanser.
Is that not a sign that the cleanser used isn’t doing an adequate job of removing makeup and debris from skin?
Although we have discussed here second cleanses, etc., I can use only one. There’s no residue, eye makeup is gone w/o using a separate remover and I don’t use cleansing wipes first or after. I do, however just use Cetaphil in the morning or days I’m not wearing makeup.
To those who say you use the “water” after to get off the rest of your makeup, do you use a Clarisonic w/ your cleanser?
