Re: MICELLAR WATER

[ Edited ]

Before I started using a micellar water, I could only wash my face once a day. I don’t wear makeup, and twice a day regular cleansing made my skin look rough. So for a long time I only washed my face mornings and only used skin care then. I never cleaned my face at night.

My skin was fine with this routine - no break outs, and smooth skin, but in order to try more products I needed to clean my face at night too. So that started me on a long quest. Finally, after much trial and error - and expense - I found cleansers that I can tolerate twice a day.  Micellar water is one of them.

I love Micellar Water.  I use a full coverage foundation and have never found a cleanser (other than an oil cleanser which gives me other problems) that removes every last trace of my foundation and mascara.

I wash my face at night with my normal cleanser and then use a couple of cotton pads with micellar water to remove anything the cleanser missed.  It's quick and inexpensive and well worth it.  I always thought my face was totally clean after cleansing until I tried the micellar and realized how much was still left especially in places like near my hairline or on my neck where I tend to not use as much cleanser.

Now I certainly think it's a waste to buy a really expensive one or to buy one if you don't wear much makeup.  Though if you don't wear a lot of makeup, you could probably just use the micellar water instead of a standard cleanser.

According to Dr. Obagi: The oil that Micellar water leaves behind can block other products, like anti-aging creams, from penetrating the skin.

If you start wiping your skin with the Micellar water for example, and it leaves that oil sheen on the surface, you’re going to have trouble with that skin care regimen penetrating the way we want.

"The doctor recommends using the Micellar water if you’re on the go, but not as a daily facial cleanser and moisturizer."

I never trust the advice of someone like Obagi who is peddling his own products.  Plus he's never seen my skin.

I use the micellar water and everything else skincare Josie, I take collagen gummies and biotin, and my skin looks great and I always get compliments and people take me for younger than I am all the time.

I also use the Garnier micellar water, it works great and I love that I can use it on my face and eyes to remove makeup.

I'm really surprised at all the negative posts from people that have never used it, although I shouldn't be surprised. It's not an extra step in my routine at all. In fact it's replaced my facial cleaners and makeup remover, so it's one less step for me. The Garnier one I use also leaves my face with a nice basic about of moisture so I don't use moisturizer as much as I used to and my skin has always been on the dryer side of normal. Using micellar water has also greatly reduced monthly breakouts. It's also much cheaper and works better with less work than my high end make up remover.

To me the IT product is more of a toner and essence. I would not use it as a makeup remover. It supposed to add a glow.

@Harpa You’re right to quote Dr. Obagi. The water does have lipids in it...fats/oils.
