I looked closer at the MAC "*Eye* Liner Pencil".. and looks to me like it requires a "pencil sharpener." paring down the pencil, in order to reveal more "eye liner product."

If so, that surprises me, esp of MAC ....esp given the frequent wooden "shards" & rough, wooden areas that are left on the wood, after using a pencil sharpener... then esp used on the EYES.

Just wanted to check.. a "pencil sharpener used?" On MAC eyeliner pencils?? ..

Yes, the ones I have do require a sharpener.

You do need to have a good sharp pencil sharpener. 

Mac & UD both make great sharpeners. Other brands may, too, but those are the 2 that I have.

I only buy pencils that are retractable, learned my lesson long ago!!!

I accidentally bought one that had to be sharpened.  Never Again. I just about cut myself after I sharpened it because the wooden edges were sharp. Danger having something like this. I usually only use retractable.  WHAT WAS I THINKING?

I heard the rep say that a universal liner sharpener would work with the liners.  I have retractable liners and those that need sharpening and never had a problem with either.
