Re: MAC Eyeshadow question

Are the MAC eyeshadows really as great as the hype in the presentations?  Colors look so satiny and pretty, but just wondering if they are heads above other brands to justify the cost?

@just wonder   IMO, you can find shadows in many price points that are good. MAC just happens to be hyped because they were designed by makeup artists. That doesn't make them better since most palettes and shadows are designed/shades chosen and co-ordinated by artists in any makeup line.

I like Bobbi Brown, of course, Tarte, Makeup Forever, Nars and lately have been going for smaller palettes like Dior, Chanel, etc. Yes,more high end, but easier to work with only 4-5 pans.

BTW, I also enjoy cream and stick shadows. MAC has not gone in that direction...yet.

@Shanus Mac did do stick eye shadows called Shadesticks, maybe around 2004 or 2005.

They need to re release them. They were so good!

Know that I'll be in the minority but I didn't like the MAC palettes that I had so have donated them.  The colors were so-so and just didn't like how they looked on me.  They seemed very powdery to me and the palettes ended up messy which I didn't like.  Anyway, felt I had other palettes that I liked better, they weren't being used, so donated them.

@JudyL   I like the MAC matte or shimmer shadows, but I find the more metallic shades, to be used as topper shades, have a lot of fallout.

@Shanus - There seems to be a lot of fallout on the 9x palettes for me.  Especially the mattes.  I have other palettes I like better.

I have one single and one Fall MAC palette.  I think they are both good quality but they aren't the best I own.  Thanks for reminding me of both.

I use mine with a Mac brush dipped in water...

I will have to give that a shot.  Thanks @Dazlin

I don't think price equals quality with make up.  My favorite right now is 10 pan from Wet&Wild that was no more than $6.

Want to mention Nomad eyeshadows again. The colors are gorgeous, blendable with other palettes, no fallout and long lasting. Prices vary, but are still less than several high cost brands. Free shipping with $45 purchase. The regular shipping price isn't bad, though.

They most certainly are one of the top best shadows in my opinion.  The pigmintation is rich.  You don't need a lot of product to pack a punch.  Urban Decay and Tarte are also really good.  And when you are applying the shadows, you don't experience "fallout".
