today I put on a little makeup- bare minerals foundation, some IT concealer under the eyes. Blush. Looked fine in my bathroom. I get into my car look in the mirror in bright sun. Whoa! That foundation covered nothing. The significant brown spots and multiple areas of dark discoloration were so obvious. Admittedly those areas have increased greatly over the past year. Guess I assumed that a powder foundation could still do the job. Do I need a heavier application?or a darker concealer to help blend out the discoloration?

Fairydogmother, I had to laugh. My bathroom mirrow is kinder to me too. It pays to check another.

I love the way my skin looks without my glasses on. I look 20 years younger.

fairydogmother, I have a large brown spot on my cheek. When I use the Bare Minerals foundation I tighten the bristles and use a bit extra on that spot. It does help. The other thing I have is the Bare Minerals Bisque. You can use that as a concealer before applying the foundation.

@fairydogmother - Try applying the BareMinerals with a denser brush. That will give you more coverage. I use an IT flat topped brush for both my MAC powder foundation and my BM foundation.

If you don't have natural lighting in your makeup area, when you're done applying everything, it's best to check what you've applied looks in natural light.
The difference can be quite scary. LOL

I totally agree with @FLtricia, Bisque is a great product. I've never had anything that covers spots and blemishes better. The last time I looked for it at Ulta, they were no longer carrying it. I found it at Sephora, thank goodness. I hope it's not about to be discontinued or something; not sure what's going on.
