Re: Lisa Leaving....Bittersweet...

I found myself tuning out the Q whenever Lisa was on, I just had enough. I t will be nice to see other hosts get the great gigs, and interesting to see who rises to the occasion.

Re: Lisa Leaving....Bittersweet...

Maybe with new management and a new contract, they offered cut backs on salary, it's been known to happen.

And regarding her replacement, Courtney has been doing the on line segment of it during PMS and she has also done PMS while Lisa's been on vacation. I like Courtney and everyone was new at one point and she can improve as the years go by like everyone else. I think she would be a great new face for PMS.

Silver & Gold..Very nicely put!!..Thanks for helping make my point!

Now that the dust is starting to settle after the initial explosion, I'm revising my earlier prediction on the financial hole that may be created with Lisa's departure. I think that it may turn out to be more of an abyss than a hole. I know that it may be hard for the Lisa "greenies" to accept, but she is/was a huge part of what makes QVC successful and that "bottom line" has her name on it.

Yes, Lisa is a great salesperson, but we don't know the financial details of the corporation. With declining profits and new management in place, don't you think it's possible that it was not Lisa's decision to leave? Recently, people have been posting about GILI bags at the outlets for under 100. Perhaps the GILI line was not as profitable for QVC as they had hoped. Or flying her to Italy to sell Bronzo was not as profitable. She has certainly earned her place as the stylish, sophisticated face of QVC. If new management needed to make changes, maybe Lisa's presence did not fit in their plan. Unfortunate.

I doubt very much that Lisa's leaving was QVC's decision.

I think it is very possible that it was a mutual decision. Happens all the time. New management in place and personnel changes occur. I am sure anyone who has been out there working in the business world has seen it happen. I have certainly seen it happen.

Have6cats, I'm with you. I'll miss her a lot, but I'll save money.

By the way, I blame 90% of my bad spending habits on Lisa, the other 10% on the weather.

Re: Lisa Leaving....Bittersweet...

There is no way QVC wanted Lisa R gone. All they ever did was promote her as the face of QVC. I think she has been offered an opportunity to do something else and decided to take that opportunity. Lisa is a first class professional and was very good at her job. I do not think newbies like Courtney will be able to generate sales immediately like Lisa. When you watch the newbies, you appreciate the professionals e.g.: Jill Bauer, Rick Domier, Mary Beth Rowe, etc. Lisa had stature and gravitas that took 20 years to build on television as do her other more experienced colleagues.

Some of you have said that Courtney doesn't have what it takes, but I think you all are wrong. I can't think of a better hand picked successor for Lisa. She will grow into the position. I think Courtney has charisma and is smart.

Bottom line . . . there's no "replacing her." They will just have to find another path, perhaps dual hosts or something like that.

Re: Lisa Leaving....Bittersweet...

I have watched the Q for a long time and have seen many hosts come and go. I liked some of the host's TV personalities and disliked others but I continued to buy no matter who the host. If I like the product I will buy, who is selling doesn't matter. If I am not interested in a product I do not buy.

While I wish Lisa luck in her new venture, I will not stop shopping at the Q if their products interest me. My problem lately has been the lack of variety and stale programming. There needs to be a shake up in the area of what is being sold and how often. In my humble opinion I think new products need to be introduced, maybe new designers and vendors.

Re: Lisa Leaving....Bittersweet...

I don't buy based on which host is on. At times I cringe when hosts I don't like host I show I love. Still I watch(sometimes on mute). QVC's main problem isn't the hosts but their lack of variety. The network is a shadow of itself. At times I think they have only 100 products in the warehouse and just recycle those 100. Lisa probably wanted to leave out of sheer "boredom". I'm sure if MBR, Rick, Jill and other senior hosts didn't have children they'd be gone too Whatever Lisa is planning it will be a step up from the current QVC programming.
