I am really in need of a lipstick that stays on but doesn't make my lips shrivel up from drying them out. I have tried many, but they either don't have any staying power or they are just far too drying, even with the gloss or sealer applied afterwards. Hoping some of the lipstick divas out there have some ideas! I have a big special event coming up in a few weeks and it is crucial I have something that works....I need to look my best!

@Duckncover  I always apply Burt's Bees lip balm before I apply my lipstick. Keeps my lips very moist. I even sleep with the lip balm on at night.

I like all MAC lipsticks. Great pigment and creamy. I know what you mean about lipsticks drying out your lips. UGH. Hate that.

Hope my suggestions help. I'm sure you will look stunning that night. A smile is the best part of our wardrobes.

@Duckncover - During quarantine I needed a lip color that would stay on, not rub off on my mask (because that was on and off), and look good from a distance.

I knew Lipsense would be perfect because I had worn it for a while. It is the official lip color for some of the flight attendants for British Airways.

I have that red, Fly Girl, and wore it for an event during the summer in 2019. (I usually don't wear bright red, but if I need that color that's the red I turn to.)

I wear Bella a lot. That color is popular with a lot of teachers I know.

It is a different kind of lip color. I wear the color and the gloss. Some people say it is too dry. It may seem so at first, and even sting a little (although I didn't notice it).

The first time I went to lunch wearing it I was the only one at the table who didn't have a "lipstick mark" on her water glass!

It does need refreshing if you eat something with oil, like salad dressing.

It's also cruelty free. As they say, "We test on us, not animals."

The only thing is it's not sold in stores. I found out about it from one of DD's college friends who sold it. I don't sell it. I think Amazon has it.

Let us know if you try it!  Smiley Happy

This is long lasting and doesn't come off until you take it off.  Not drying and has a satin finish.

Re: Lipstick help

[ Edited ]

@Duckncover   Any lipstick that stays all day is trouble (drying).  Go for creamy.  Actually, Burts Bees has lipstick balms that are wonderful and not drying it is called Lip Shimmer.  check out the details on Burts Bees website.  Burts also has regular lipstick too.

I really like Color the World lipsticks.  Some have said that they feel they are drying but I haven't found that.  I don't know if this is an issue for you, but most lipsticks that are more moisturizing end up bleeding on me now that I am older.  I feel this lipstick has good staying power and is neither over dry or over wet.  They are available on line.  Lots of colors to choose from.

Happy Sunday morning @Duckncover . Laura Geller, Mally, Trish McEvoy and I think MAC make lip primers which hold lipsticks in place. Very few lipsticks that aren't drying stay in place as long as we'd like. Using a lip pencil in the shade of your lips, line and then fill in, also provides a base to hold the lip color.

***If you purchase a lip primer, apply slightly beyond your lip line to prevent feathering, too. In a pinch, I've used eye lid primer, but wouldn't suggest it because it gets ingested.

Thank you @beach-mom . That's a brand I haven't heard about.

@Shanus

I have used lip primers and also the trick with using lip pencils, etc.  I don't want to bother with all of that.  I juse want simple and quick.  Thank you for suggesting though!
