I am guessing that you may be allergic to the first ingredient: Octyldodecal is a type of alcohol and may cause irritation. https://www.beautifulwithbrains.com/know-your-ingredients-octyldodecanol/

It can, but it's it's a fatty alcohol used for moisture and irritation is rare. Unfortunately, anyone can be irritated by anything, even if it's rare, so it's hard to say. I have sensitive skin and there are a few ingredients that react to, but it took me a lot of trial and error and cross-referencing to identify which things caused the irritation. I had to keep track of which products bothered me and compare the ingredients for commonalities. It's a big pain and the journey is painful, sometimes literally, but it was worth it when I was able to identify the ingredients I need to avoid and stopped having problems.

My go-to product for healing lips is Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask. It comes in an untinted version and several tints. It's expensive, but a little goes a long way and one tube lasts a very long time - provided you don't lose it before using it up. Because it has a screw-on cap, mine has even survived a trip through the washing machine. (I don't put any of my pants in the dryer, so I have no idea how it would have fared in there!) Here's a great review one of my favorite beauty bloggers wrote on the Champagne tinted version: https://imabeautygeek.com/2014/07/25/bite-agave-lip-mask-your-lips-need-it/ HOWEVER, the main ingredient is lanolin, which some people are sensitive to and it can cause contact dermatitis. If you can't wear wool, you should avoid lanolin. If that's you, the FRESH Sugar Advanced Lip Treatment is my second favorite and Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is also excellent. You can use the sleeping mask during the day, but it comes in a tub and isn't as pocket-friendly as the other two.
