Lipstick Queen/Josie Lipsticks

I normally buy lipstick (usually Revlon) at Walgreen's, but was intrigued with Josie Maran's 3-in-1 Core Color Hydrating Lipstick (A330683) and also Lipstick Queen Morning Sunshine (A359662). Lipstick Queen is yellow in color but works with skin tone and changes color. I received them on the same day, and probably used Josie's more than the other one since I received them a week ago. One of them has created problems for me - my lips are now extremely dry and so irritated. I've stopped using both of them and am using Vaseline for the dryness and irritation. I found the Josie hydrating lipstick was not at all hydrating or creamy, and I'm wondering if that is the cause, although there is no suspicious odor to it. Has anyone else tried this lipstick and had any issues? I only used Lipstick Queen a couple of times and wasn't all that impressed with it either. There is something in one of these lipsticks that I'm either allergic to or has caused the irritation. So much for trying something new!

@jannabelle1

I own the Lipstick Queen Morning Sunshine lipstick although I didn't buy it from QVC. I bought mine a couple of weeks ago from Winners in Canada. It was paired as a duo with a Lipstick Queen Saints lipstick in a nude shade. I do like the Morning Sunshine lipstick as it's a nice color change on me. It is a soft coral shade and it's rather sheer and creamy, not at all a dry formula. I find in the summer heat my lips tend to be dry anyway so I'm always cleaning them off with a tissue.

Here is what the color change Morning Sunshine lipstick looks like -- from QVC, item A290276:

Re: Lipstick Queen/Josie Lipsticks

I have tried both lipsticks and although I did not really like either, I did not have a reaction to it. I have a feeling you are no doubt allergic to something in the lipsticks.

Re: Lipstick Queen/Josie Lipsticks

@TY, I like the color change of Lipstick Queen and have a feeling this one is not the problem. But - once my lips heal I'm not going to try either one of them again since I don't know for sure. Darn the luck!

@blackhole99, agree that there's some product that's causing an allergy for me. I was most disappointed with the Josie lipstick since I saw very little hydrating with it....and most likely the allergy. Oh well - back to Revlon!

Re: Lipstick Queen/Josie Lipsticks

We have had lots of reactions to foods and cosmetics in my family.  I would not use it for a few days, then only try one of them for 3 days.  If you have a reaction during that time, quit using the product and wait 3 days until you try the second one, or if the reaction is not cleared up, wait until it clears up.  That should tell you which one is the problem.

Good luck

@SuziQ2, good advice. Thanks - I'll start out with the one that I think is not a problem!

@jannabelle1   That is why I NEVER buy Long Lasting lipstick (dries your lips).  I guess the Lipstick Queen change color lipstick possibly did the drying.  I have used Josie's  blush stick/lipstick and never had any problems.  Laura Geller has Italian Marble lipsticks that are very moisturizing.  The only thing is you need to keep the lipstick lower in the tube (just past 1/2 in. the tube).  I hope you are all healed!

Re: Lipstick Queen/Josie Lipsticks

I can't help you with your lipstick questions but this is what I use on my lips at night.

Very healing, also good for any minor skin irritation or small cuts.  It's petroleum jelly with vitamins.

I am guessing that you may be allergic to the first ingredient: Octyldodecal is a type of alcohol and may cause irritation. https://www.beautifulwithbrains.com/know-your-ingredients-octyldodecanol/
