When you apply a lipstick to your arm to see the color then it might not look the same as when you apply it to your lips b/c lips have a different acidity/alkalinity to them than your arm. The pH can oxidize the lipstick and make it change color. Lips have a certain pH which differs from person to person. Try using a lip primer before applying your lipstick and that will help stop the oxidation.

Have you tried sampling a lip color on your inside finger tips? I think you get a better idea how it will look on your lips. The fingertips look more like the lips than the back of your hand or wrists.

@SilleeMee  I looked for a lip primer and the ingredients are scary. Very scary. I finally found one I liked and can't find anywhere in US to buy it. CA location says Sold Out, Australia and Global, you can't order from them. Perplexing!!! Did you ever see NudebyNature products? The lip primer sounds good. If you know the secret to ordering this one, let me know!!!! Thanks

Upon looking at so many, one said this which I found very interesting:

  • For a stained lip look, prep with Lip Primer and then press Eyeshadow onto the center of the lips.

@Judaline

I've never heard of Nude By Nature. I googled that and saw one place that sells the lip primer at niche-beauty dot com.

OMgosh, @SilleeMee , I got the product but I thought they really ripped me on shipping charges-too late I found out it's coming from GERMANY!!!! Oh, well, that'll teach me to explore first and then order!

Just wanted to thank you! I bought In Love with Olivia and I love the color. I'll probably buy Dance FP. too! Also, eyeing the Charlotte Tilbury Ecstasy blush. Has anyone tried this? Thanks

@Judaline

I looked up the ingredients for the MAC lip primer on Beautypedia and the ingredients are not bad.

I then looked up the ingredients for the Anastasia lip primer.  Again, the ingredients are not bad.

I don't see anything "very scary" here.
