So sorry this happened!  I have done a number on my skin, a number of times.  One thing I have done that helps soothe the skin is to use the Clinque Moisture Surge in a thick layer as a mask treatment. 

 

Did you make it to lunch?

@justashopper - thank you for the suggestion.  I just happen to have some of that Clinique moisturizer so may try it.  Yes, made it to lunch - thanks for asking!  We actually went out and then back to her place for a game of Scrabble which I won!  LOL  We had a fun afternoon.
