@wagirl wrote:Me too--I hardly ever wear a full face of make up --only when I am going out to a social function--even just out running errands I don't wear much, just spf---EXCEPT!!------for my brows--- that is a must!! I went thru chemo so lost ALL my hair for a few months and I looked like a ghost as I was so pale with just eyes --so I got very good at drawing them on --made me look so much better. And still does, I think , now. I do wear lip gloss tho.
I have always had very light eyebrows but very thick and very thick, long curly lashes (a triple thickness). With chemo, I lost all that. When it came back (I was on male hormones) I have bushy eyebrows and short lashes on top and none on bottom. I don't wear artificial anything and very little makeup. Like you, unless I am going to a social function, church, club or luncheon, I do without.

I totally agree. Nothing as ugly as a face full of makeup with false eyelashes, puffed-up lips, tattooed eyeliner and even eyebrows with heavy make-up including lips and blush-come-rouge.
For all those who have nips, tucks, botox, plastic surgery, tattooed eyebrows, eyeliners and all that who say they must have it in order to find work: I say a lot of vanity and a mix of insanity and willing to jump from couch to bed.

My less is more started when I left the Fortune 100 world and no longer had to look my role. Even then, my make-up was subtle and minimal. It's just not my thing, but I knew it was part of the corporate "uniform". Now it's just moisturizer, waterproof mascara and tinted lip balm most days. Some days it's not even that. If someone wants to look at me negatively because of it, that's their problem.

@SilleeMee wrote:Wearing less makeup has nothing to do with PS or enhancements. People have been getting 'work done' for eons and that hasn't changed the 'face of makeup'.
Good skincare might reduce the need to wear makeup.
@SilleeMee OMG, yes!

My skin has been looking good with monthly facials and professional skincare, so just skincare, supergoop spf, no foundation. I have to do brows, concealer under eyes, one shadow, mascara and lips. I just retired and this is an easy look for typical days.
Enjoy reading what others do!

It does seem we are entering a less makeup era. But the pendulum swings....
I can remember those black eyes like Twiggy. Who can forget the 80/90 bright makeup, perms and shoulder pads?
Anyday now we will be told to get more drama.

I read an article recently that said the trend of wearing less makeup started during COVID when people were staying home more. Evidently, the makeup industry still hasn't recovered from that, and with some people still working from home, sales haven't returned to pre pandemic levels. It went on to say that companies are pushing lots of new skin care and body products hoping to get people to buy other things instead to improve sales numbers.
I still see women of all ages wearing makeup. Women at my church wear eye makeup, blush, and lipstick. My niece and her friends in their 20s wear super dark black eyeliner with fake lashes. They also wear a ton of foundation. I was surprised how thickly it was applied when I saw them recently. I think they're trying to emulate the look of certain celebrities. There are still plenty of YouTubers demonstrating & trying to sell makeup too. I think some women are still wearing makeup, but maybe not every day as in the past. That might be why makeup sales are down.
I've always been a more natural makeup gal. Even in my younger years, I wore a "full face", but it was always applied with a light hand. I'm in my early 60s. I gave up traditional foundations many years ago. I've been using tinted moisturizers instead and add concealer and highlighter as needed. I have oily skin so a bit of shine reducing powder in my t-zone helps. I do my eyes and brows with subtle neutral shades, add a bit of blush, and lip color. It sounds like a lot, but everything is applied sparingly and blended well. I can do my makeup in 15 minutes.
Have a Good Day!

@Nonametoday Jeez I hope I am misreading your post but the way it came across was a bit harsh. I have tattooed eyebrows and not for my "insanity or vanity" as you say, it's from losing all of my own to chemotherapy. Have you ever been through that or have you had the emptyness and sadness of losing your identity by going totally bald?? I'm hoping I misunderstood your post but tattooing was a saving grace for people like me.
ETA: I just read your other post to @wagirl so I see you have been through it........so your remarks surprise me even more.

referring to false lashes

mask wearing will do that
