I need a good leg makeup. 3 years ago I tried a waterproof leg makeup; I couldn't scrub it off in the shower but some of it did rub off on my slacks. It's already 100 degrees here and it's time to dress cooler, but discoloration and some veins near my ankles keep me totally covered. I'm embarassed about how my legs look, and they've even kept me from dating. (For several reasons, surgery is not an option.) As I'm writing, it's dawning on me that we shouldn't feel shame over this. But, I need suggestions for a good leg makeup. TIA

I use Sally Hansen leg makeup. The tube is less messy than the spray. It comes in a few shades. I am fortunate that my legs look pretty good for over 50, but I like to mix a bit of this with my body lotion when exposing my legs in the warmer months. It stays on all day, yet washes off easily with body wash and a shower pouf.

Thanks for the suggestion. Where do you buy Sally Hansen leg makeup?

I second the sally Hansen...good stuff....you can buy almost anywhere: target, Walmart, any drug store, probably a lot of grocery stores as well...

Im like you with the veins etc., and not wanting to show my legs, so I wear maxi dresses all summer. But when out and about I see people wearing very minimal and revealing clothing with all kinds of veins, dis colorations, so I suppose we should be not so hard on ourselves since all of us get old and don't have the perfect legs we had in our youth (:
Have a beautiful summer !

P.S....I also tried the Sally Hansen, didn't care for it ...tried a tinted moisturizer which I liked better because it looked like a nice tan but didn't like the transfer onto fabric and upholstery, so quit using . For now I just wear summer dresses that accentuate the positive and mostly hide the negative (:

I prefer the tan towels. When I use them they cover up veins, a birthmark, and other imperfections. You can get them in classic (lighter) or plus (a darker color). If you go on HSN, you can read the reviews.

I'm glad that in the process of writing your OP you had the realization that you don't need to feel shame over this. You know every single day I walk around with a visible scar on my neck that looks like I tried to slash my own throat. It's from surgery. You're beautiful the way you are. Of course if you feel better covering it up, that's an option too.

Sally Hanson Air Brushed Legs. I wear it all summer long. Sprays on, stays on beautifully until you wash it off. I recently went for a follow up visit after surgery on my leg and the ortho doc commented on what a good job he'd done since the scar was nearly invisible. When I told him I use air brush legs he couldn't stop marvelling at how well it works!
Give it a try!

@jaxs mom If the scar is something that bothers you, you may want to try Kelo-Cote. I bought some (at Rite Aid) for my mom after her thyroidectomy, and you can't even see the scar anymore unless you look very closely. It's really quite remarkable.
I apologize if you aren't looking to change it, and I've piped up with an unwanted suggestion. Just thought you might want to try it if the scar bugs you.
