I never used a lot of products.  Entire routine takes me less than 5 minutes.  About the same amount of time it takes me to blow dry and style my hair.

Foundation / occasionally a glimmer finishing powder

Blush/bronzer

Eye shadow

Lipstick

I use soap and water to wash my face and for the past ?? years used Avon's Dramatic Firming Cream under makeup.  I groom and dye my eyebrows about once a month - no other maintenance.

I've never been a skincare/makeup junkie as my sister calls it.  I don't have great skin and I started wearing makeup in college but it's never went for the "made up" look.  Today's skincare and makeup is so much better that I don't have to use much to get the look I need.  I'm 57,  I'm aging well.   For skincare, I cleanse and moisturize with Aveeno products.  I recently bought a Korean product that is combination brighter/tightener/primer.  I use IT BBUE to conceal what needs to be concealed and I use Revlon Colorstay Foundation.  I use a dab of mascara.  I love a bright lip.  Sounds like a lot but it's 10 minute routine and my face is done for the day.  I only need to reapply my lip color.

OK, maybe "lazy" isn't the right word.  I never liked to take the time to apply makeup, but I did take the time for years and carefully applied dozens of products.  In my 20's, I only wore foundation and mascara -- as I got into my 30's and up, I started using more and more and more.....and it took almost as much time to remove it as it did to apply it all!

It's interesting to read how different we all are in the way, and the products, we apply to our faces as we get older.  Thanks for your responses.

@ALRATIBA- I know you and I have talked about this before.  If I wear Avon's DFC under foundation, it balls and flakes.  Wish I could wear it as a daytime face cream like you do.  I love it on my neck, though, and I absolutely looove it the results I've gotten.

It may be that the ingredients in the two are just incompatible.   Like oil and water ...  I've used it under Almay, CoverGirl and Avon foundations.  I think they are all water based foundations.   I don't have dry skin ... women in my family have passed along some good "skin genes."

I only use a tiny bit ... rub between my hands and then apply it to my face.  It's just a very light film that just disappears in seconds.

My skin is pretty good, I was never a sun worshiper, and I have good genes. I usually stick with bare minerals in hot weather, and IT CC cream or M Assam Magic Finish the rest of the time. I have to do my brows and lashes, or you can't see them, and lipgloss is a must.

I've always really loved applying skincare and makeup and find it a relaxing way to start my day.  It's an artform and fun for me so I would never streamline my fun process.  I don't need a lot of time if in a hurry and still can apply the same but I really like to take my time and enjoy the process!

I've always been a little bit lazy about makeup and skin care -- in my younger days I used lots of products and layers, but I had to force myself to take the time to do it.

As I've gotten older, I've gotten lazy.  These days I have my "full face of makeup" down to 5 products and just a few minutes.  My appearance has not suffered -- in fact, I think I look better and more youthful with less.

Has anyone else streamlined their makeup process over time?  Do you take lots of makeup steps?  or very few?   Do you wear more makeup, or less makeup, as you've gotten older?

I never cut down on my skincare steps or products. If my skin stays clear and not wrinkled, I can wear very little makeup.

Recently changed from BB to Trish who has it down to 8 steps in 10 minutes w/ minimal products. Most days, I just use Tinted Moisturizer, concealer, blush, mascara & pink gloss.

Re: Lazy Makeup?

[ Edited ]

I wouldn't say I wear more or less makeup but I am smarter about makeup than I used to be. For example, I used to hate my freckles growing up and would pile on heavy foundation to cover them, where  now I just use a very light coverage foundation and it is much more flattering.

I also developed better techniques to apply eyeshadow, liner, etc. thanks to the internet and all the great tutorials. I have always absolutely adored makeup and now that we have access to so many different amazing brands, it has been awesome (and sometimes overwhelming, lol) and a makeup lovers dream!

Another thing that has changed as I got older too is that now I prefer more natural "looks" from my makeup than I did when I was younger. When I was younger, I really was into the edgier look (think New Wave and punk, like Kat von D's look) and I still AM into that look but not for myself as it isn't so flattering anymore on me, lol. So I like my makeup to look as natural as possible but yet enhance my featuresinstead of making a statement.

Regarding skincare, I have changed immensely. I have focused more on skincare these days- started about 20 years ago getting serious about skincare. But I always wore sunscreen and stayed out of the sun as much as possible, even as a young kid thanks to my mom. Rain or shine since I can remember, I used sunscreen.

Fun thread @tototwo! I enjoy reading everyone's posts.
