Large vs medium round brushes

I have been using the medium round brushes for a few months now and am thinking about trying the large. Have those of you who have tried both found much difference with your blowout results? My hair is fine-textured (similar to red-headed model Kate's although a bit longer than hers) and sometimes I have trouble getting good tension with the medium brushes; it's like some of my hair just wants to lie on top of the brush instead of getting pulled taut by the bristles. I think this is stopping me from getting the smooth, shiny blowout that I'd like to have. Maybe the large brush will allow me to use larger sections of hair and having more hair in the brush will help increase the tension. Any thoughts? Do you think the large brushes might help or should I just continue practicing with the medium brushes?
