I love it, get up when you want, go to bed when you want, wear your pj's/robe all day ....... do whatever "you" want to do when you want to do it, LOL! The best part to me, is not having to get out in the morning on bad weather days! Enjoy!

I love this part of it Hooty. I just retired December 31st and here in western Pennsylvania for the last two weeks we've had really cold weather with snow, sleet, freezing rain, etc. On those mornings it's so nice to look outside and realize that I don't have to go out in it!

Congratulations! Welcome to the club. I retired four years ago ... after having worked almost 50 years.

It was worth every single one of those days to be where I am today! Loving it. Hope you will love it too!

Ladies.....I'm about to join you all! I'm really scared too....worked all my life. Husband and I were separated for 10 years and he just passed away. I get his pension. With his and my 2 pensions and his social security, I just doubled my working income by retiring!! I will pay a small monthly fee for my Union insurance and hey....I don't think I want to go into the office anymore!

Mustangshar (sorry about your husband's recent passing), and to all the others who have posted of retirement; Congratulations! I don't regret retiring a bit. The stress alone was nearly overwhelming at times, once that was gone, what a difference it made in how I feel.

Thank you for the kind words. I have tons of hobbies, photography, knitting, crocheting, reading, genealogy, car shows!! And when it's snowing, I don't have to drive in it next Winter.Smiley Happy. No more 6 day mandatory overtime!!! I think it's time, getting all my applications in on the other pensions. Once I start receiving these checks, I will give notice and apply for this pension. Awesome!

Re: Ladies who are Retired ...

Three years since I retired. Starting to feel like I miss the schedule. I realize I spend too much time doing nothing! Suddenly the day is ending and I didn't accomplish what I wanted to do. Strange, I'm starting to miss the structure of working.

I'm thinking of looking for a part time job just to have something to get me moving in the morning. I find I don't focus like I did before, find myself drifting. I don't like that part of it. I worry about money and what would happen if something required a large expense.

I'm not sure I was cut out for retirement.

Hi, I am new here. I retired last October and love it. Mom died in June and I am having to deal with her estate. I'm also building me a house. Have a lot going on but don't get out as much as I should.

Re: Ladies who are Retired ...

I was able to take my retirement a month before I turned 55, 6/2010. In october I found out I had a tumor, ended up with multiple myeloma. I won't say its been easy but it could be so much worse. Right now I am in remission. Everyone else i know who is retired says they don't know how they found time to work. I'm such a homebody, I love being home. If you stop to think about it, there isn't really all that much to do that doesnt involve money. I'm not looking to spend my money that quickly. Plus hubs is a homebody to. Sometimes we will take short ""senior trips", just take off driving and see what we find.

Our health issues have kind of taken over our lives lately so if I hadn't of retired I'd be out on disability. Hubs just recently had pneumonia and the flu and spent 9 days in the hospital and was very weak so they put him in a rehab place. He's getting discharged from there tomorrow and he's not quite got his strength back yet so its going to take a little time for him to get back to normal. I've been dealing with pnuemonia and a blood infection and still haven't quite got my strength back so we'll be having some home health care coming in to help him out. I will do what i can but sometimes I need a little help myself.

Despite all this, I'm so happy to be retired. I always hated working and I took advantage of early retirement when I was able to. I didn't count on the health issues but I feel like I'm living the life I was meant to live. That might sound strange but I'm happy.
