My bestie and I stopped at our local Blue Mercury. I am a foundation fanatic. The Laura Mercier Make Up Artist was there and I explained my concerns to her. She did half my face so I could compare the foundation to what I was wearing.. My skin is in good shape for 64, very fair and dehydrated especially this winter. She told me to stay away from anything matte. She suggested the creme foundation in beige rose and mixed it with a drop of their Rose Oil and applied a very small amount with a flat brush. If I'm extremely dry I can also press a drop or two of the oil onto my skin before applying the foundation mix. She added an tiny bit of powder which I don't have to use and used a very light tap of bronzing powder on my cheeks for a bit of warmth. I looked in the mirror and my skin looked perfect, like porcelain. No sign of any pores, my bits of sundamage were covered and the color matched perfectly. But I looked like I was wearing nothing, just had beautiful skin!
Purchased the foundation and the oil and am thrilled. She also made up my friiend (eyes too) and she looked gorgeous as well! She didn't pile make up on our faces, didn't even suggest we buy anything. Wonderful experience!

I am almost 60 and I wanted to try some new products also. I stopped by my Laura Mercier counter yesterday and the salesperson was so nice and knowledgeable. I tried the caviar eye pencils and they were great. Went on easily and never moved the rest of the day. She had one holiday gift set of six left and I bought it. I also tried the new foundation and loved that too.

@virgosun Good for you! Isn't it a great feeling to find something that works? The trial and error with products is so aggravating and I'm not even touching on the money spent on things that didn't work well.

@virgosunI enjoy it there...been a while though. I love Laura's things! Have many eyeshadows that just WORK! I'm 59 and know about the drier skin.
I used to wear that foundation but she changed the formula. I have to go back and look at it now. I loved it before. Beige rose sounds like my color too. I found these hard to match for shades back then....I don't care for too light a shade even though I'm light-it's aging on me.
Used to wear a similar sounding one my previous one. I am as well a foundation lover..a foundation a holic.Try so many new ones and enjoy them!
Wish I had to heads - or 3! so try all my makeup on! it's fun.
Happy you had a nice visit!!!
BTW her powder blushes and the one in a creme stick is nice.

The makeover sounds wonderful. So nice when products actually work as well as they claim to.
I am a huge fan of the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder. It's my absolute favorite to use when I bake my under eye concealer. I am in my fifties and it doesn't settle AT ALL into any lines under my eyes. I apply concealer after foundation, tap on a generous amount of the powder with a damp beauty blender and let bake while I do my eyes. Within a couple of minutes, it's almost all absorbed. I just dust any excess and my concealer doesn't budge or crease the entire day.
I've tried the same technique with my other powders...IT, Nars and Chanel...and the Laura Mercier is by far the best. It's also great as a setting powder for the rest of the face, never gets cakey.

Oops! The shade is actually blush rose and the foundation is called cream smooth. it comes in a jar. On my firend she used the rose oil which helps roscea as well as dryness, the new Candle light or candleglow liquid foundation and the bronzer in the medium shade.

I love Laura Mercier, too. I had a makeover at her counter years ago and have stuck with it. She changed the formula for the Silk Creme foundation that I use, so when I finish what I have I'll need to go back and get their suggestions again. I'm just sick that they changed the formula.

oops again! I'm losing it today. the shade of the creme smooth foundation is BLUSH IVORY !!!!!!!!! IT's neutral, nott pink or yellow in undertone . I'm fair but I don't like to go too too light or it looks deathly. This matches me perfectly!

Are you sure it isn't Ivory Rose?

I've double checked and it's definitely Blush Ivory. It's the cream foundation in the jar, not her foundation in the tube. Hope that helps!
