L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream - stay away!

L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream

OK, I tried this color change BB cream after watching youtube beauty influencer Angie Hot & Flashy use it as a makeup primer and I absolutely hate it! I bought both the light shade and the fair shade. Here are the reasons I hate it:

These are both color change BB creams that are white in the tube and change color as you apply them. The light shade oxidizes to a wierd orangy tint and the fair doesn't change color enough so that it looks like a white mask. But the worst is that it settles into every pore and you can't blend it out once it dries down. I was horrified to see that it was blotchy, cracked, and cakey all over when I looked in a 10X mirror -- especially on my eyelids and undereyes. All the pores around my nose and on my nose looked like craters filled with makeup. And this was soon after I applied it while I was still in the bathroom. Ugh!!!

I would have thought that since L'Oreal now owns IT Cosmetics that they would have their own great BB cream too under the L'Oreal brand name but the Magic Skin Beautifier BB cream isn't it!

Perhaps it's better used as a primer (like Angie used it) and the fact that it fills in pores is a good thing, if foundation is used over it?

(Could you see your pores from outer space? 😂)

Thanks for the warning!

I still have a third of a tube and one unopened tube of my Lumene CC cream.  That buys me at least a year.  Once those tubes are gone I'll be in a world of hurt because I know I won't find a comparably priced product that works as well.

I tried using the L'Oreal BB cream yesterday in the light shade all over before apply the IT Cosmetics CC cream - the regular formula -- in a mix of light and medium to see if my face would look less greasy and it didn't help with the look of the CC cream at all. I think for 2 reasons: The L'Oreal BB cream in light changes color to a tint that is darker than my face and it's too orange. And because we are having a heat wave in the Pacific Northwest, my IT Cosmetics CC cream doesn't last and slides off. It's the same problem I had when I was in Australia in March and April when it was still summer weather there.

Today after I totally washed off the L'Oreal BB cream I decided to only use the Australian Gold tinted SPF 50 sunscreen and no foundation and then just a light touch of the Essence color correcting liquid concealer in the pink shade -- it's really a light peach shade -- on my undereye dark circles and on my nose and while it's not perfect, it didn't crack and crease and settle into my pores.

Yes, I think my pores with the L'Oreal BB cream could be seen from outerspace!

How do you like the Australian Gold tinted sunscreen? I'm using it as my foundation, layered over a very moisturizing (but not greasy) Japanese sunscreen. I find it too drying used on its own.

I have this in my foundation/bb cream collection.  It's sort of a drugstore version of Josie Maran's Matchmaker, the way it's white and then changes color according to the user's pigment, but a little thinner in consistency.  I haven't experienced any of the oranginess or blotchiness mentioned.  I actually rather like it on days when I want to keep things simple.  I usually do a powder over it.  I will admit that it doesn't last until evening, but to me that isn't a big deal.  On those simple makeup days, I don't care about it lasting because I'm usually just home and really only need to look presentable in case someone comes to the door during the day.

I'm finding that I like the tinted Australian Gold mineral sunscreen very well. I tend to have an oily T zone which really means my nose area gets greasy and the Australian Gold really does help. I do like my Senka japanese sunscreen but that one isn't a mineral one so I don't want to wear it if I'm going to sweat as it can sting my eyes.

I do then use the Australian Gold kids untinted mineral sunscreen from the neck down, especially on my neck and chest area, arms and hands.
