@monicakm , I would check with the doctor to see if lip balm or false eyelashes are OK to wear. I've heard that they don't allow makeup before any surgery, so you might have to forget that and go without. The pamphlet they gave you should have instructions about it.

@monicakm When I had hip surgery last year, I couldn't wear any sort of makeup at all.

@chiclet     I had elbow surgery on wed.  They gave me a nerve block and 72 hours later i am still numb.  I had a major freakout this motning and called the  doctor's office. Nurse told me not to worry the numbness would go away.  it feels like my arm is still numb and  i can't move my hand or fingers.

I have never had anything like this and  I am worried. Has anyone had a nerve block for bone surgery take yhis long to wear off ? i would be better off with the pain.

I have a friend who had knee replacement surgery in August. As soon as he woke up in recovery, he was asked if he could walk just a bit. He said he would give it a try and walked just a short distance to the nurses station. They then put him in a wheelchair and took him to another area just outside of recovery and told him he was being released. He didn't even spend a whole day!! He said he thought it might have something to do with Covid. I know they used to keep patients at least overnight just to be on the safe side.  It's just unbelievable!

I need to have my right knee repaced, but. I am scared to death of the whole process.

Bless his heart Smiley Sad  I don't understand this whole pain med debacle.  They should be able to tell who really needs it and who just wants it.  A knee surgery is not a "take two asprins and call me in the morning" scenario.  I am scared to death to take pain meds.  Something I own is in pain all the time.  Right now it's both knees.  Laying down is my "pain med" for knee pain.  Ice helps too.

When you say nerve block are you talking about a spinal injection?

That's just cruel and unusual punishment Smiley Sad  I'll show up with the lashes and lip tint anyway.   The most they can do is just tell me to remove them.

Got the Dr info on knee surgery today but I've been gone all day so I haven't read any of it yet.

I found the nicest set of "everyday" lashes last week.  Ardell "Whispies".  Not Demi Whispies (bleh).

I'm scared too Smiley Sad  I already need "total" replacement so if I just got syn visc shots 2x a year, what more damage can I do to it?  My knee crunches and grinds and pops every time I bend over.  If I'm off of it, it doesn't hurt.  My husband said to not be in any hurry to show them I can walk (I doubt that will be a problem) so they'll keep me in the hospital at least over night.  They don't know me.  I don't react to anything like the average person does.  We know that, they don't.
