Just Cut 7 Inches of Hair Off

I met my bucket list goal of growing my hair to my hips (I lost my hair 7 years ago due to a very serious illness).

I kept my hair very long for a little over a year. It took over 5 years to grow and my hair looked very pretty, but was becoming something I began to dread working with.

It's now to the bottom of my bra strap and a lighter to feel; it's still silky .

My hairdresser was ready to do a jig when I came in since she's wanted to cut it for a while but she respected my wishes.

7 inches was a compromise. K. wanted to cut 10-12".

I dont regret this-it can always grow again.

@Lisa Y   I am well, thank you!

I did not donate to Locks of Love since I am a cancer survivor and my hair is chemically treated/colored. My understanding is that this organizations doesnt accept donations from hair like that.

@Maestra1 congrats on this achievement.  Did you happen to see how drastically Mariele Heller (director of Mr Rogers movie) cut her hair.  Looks great.  Enjoy the change.  Happy New Year.

To all these well-wishers: thank you.

Reaching this goal and then moving forward so to speak has been cathartic

Interesting how this occurred on the last day of this decade-it's been a doozy!

Happy New Year 2020!

@Maestra1   Glad you are okay.  You never know what life has in store for you but with strength you can come back to normal.  At my age, I would never have long hair.  I like to wash it and quickly dry my hair (I wear it in short layers)  -- easy care.

@Maestra1

Congrats!  And wasn't that something to have your hair that long again after being ill?  Glad to hear you are doing better!  About a year ago I had hair down to my backside as well. I did like it and it was nice to braid it, etc.  I now have mine to my bust line.  I'm thinking of going shorter but am still pondering!
