Many cosmetic containers have a false, or thickened base, (or walls) making the inner dimensions different from what you'd think by looking at the outside.

Then, if the viscosity of the product doesn't allow it to flow and quickly re-level with gravity, you can get some very odd looking angles when you look inside.
