Is there a dupe for the Jones road beauty balm? The reviews for this is 50/50 so I don't want to invest in a product that I may have to return or just waste my money on if I don't like it. But it seems like a product that I could use and that would help my speedy makeup routine in the morning. So I was wondering if any of the ladies in the know here on this board had come across a dupe for this item? TIA

Hi @Midmod

I have a dupe I bought at Ulta.  It's the Revolution brand.

What did you think of it? Is there a certain way you used it to best advantage? I did make the purchase yesterday in the peach bliss color. I just want a pretty healthy color in the early AM without a lot of foundation.

If anyone knows of a pretty eye brightening powdered ( shadow or anything in powder form), I'd love to know what it is. My eyelids are so sweaty that anything creamy ends up in a gunky crease. I've wondered if a banana powder would work but I'd rather have something that's not sheer and brightening to cover my discoloration. Then I could get away with a tiny bit of shadow and liner 😉.
Anyone used anything similar?
I see that the revolution product has been on the market a while now. 🤪

Edit to my last post: the Ulta cream shadow in a tube with the doe foot does a great job of drying down and works well.... I'm just tired of the pink color and want something different until winter.

Hi @Midmod

I use it like a color stick-- cheeks, lips, & eyelids for a quick natural look.  Unfortunately, I either can't read the name on the back and I have my readers on! LOL or it's not on there.  The shade is a browny pink.

For eye concealer/brightener I have a few different things.  As a make up lover, I don't have regular routine. I sometimes have a lot of make up on and sometimes I just go with a blurring primer and lipstick.

My favorite though is Bare Minerals Bisque.  It started as an eyeshadow but it is great as a concealer.  Another by Bare Minerals that is specifically for eye brightening is, Well-Rested.  It is like a banana powder.  It has yellow to it.

Another brand that I have, use and like is Clinque.  They have eye primer that is cream and it comes in a couple colors.  That might not work for you since you are looking for powder.  They also have a yellow powder that is for canceling redness.

I also use and like Tarte's skin treat in the stick.  I love this- it's what I use in place of a full coverage foundation.  I use it on my face, neck and chest.  It looks so natural even though it's full coverage.  And I don't have to put all over like a mask, just where I need it.

you might also an eye shadow primer for your eyelids.  Mine are pretty glossy, too, but cream does work for me, especially if I blend it really well.  I have found most products work better (for me) if I use less and blend more.

Hope this is helpful!

Hi @justashopper
I got that revolution dupe and have been using it. It stays put! I like it a lot. The only thing that I would change is how vibrant it is since I'm so fair. But I did use it over nyx dual ended contour stick on my cheeks and temple and hairline. It was very pretty & easy to blend.

I also used to use the BM well tested+ bisque. It was all I used for concealer. But my skin has changed since then ( about 20 yrs since using that) & my under eye area doesn't seem to like powder even in the slightest amount anymore. 🤷 I've thought about buying them to try again but I hesitate to get stuck with a product I can't use vs the cost.
I have that Clinique product for the eye. It's an eye shadow base. I never liked it. It didn't cover anything and would not stay put.
The Tarte stick I have not tried. I have the serum stick for moisture tho. But you know since I started using Cetaphil healthy renew niacinamide+ vit c serum, I only use a couple drops of foundation over my hyperpigmented areas on my cheeks and that's all. It's brightened my complexion so much I really don't need much cover anymore thank goodness.

I always use an eyeshadow primer. Since I have oily eyelids, the best for me has been Ulta's cream shadow with the doe foot applicator & bion, Elf's primer. The Elf primer is a drier cream formula and it works well for me.
My two favorite eye brighteners are pixi and Becca. Both work great. I'm liking this new makeup trend of less is more. I dab a little of the m/u revolution balm on my upper eye for healthy color and a tiny bit of a natural shadow on the outer eyelid above my lashes with a bit of eyeliner, blush and I'm done. Nowadays it seems like it is the blush app and contouring that really brightens my skin tone that's making the biggest difference for me. I want a healthy glow. It's not always easy to achieve on 6-7 hrs sleep every day.

@Midmod

that would help my speedy makeup routine

How would it speed up your routine?  I would sure be interested in knowing how you like it.  It doesn't seem to be a well thought of product.  It was amusing to see YTers struggle to say anything nice about it and the other half flat-out said "no thank you!".
