Yes I had a temporary dark red streak put in a few years back and I liked it and got lots of compliments.  They just slowly fade until gone.  BTW my hair is white.

Have you thought about doing it again @Imaoldhippie since you received so many compliments?

I do! Got tired of my silver/black short hair and tried Teal blue this spring. (I wear a lot of aqua and pale blue; it's my signature color.)  Most people loved it, so as we head toward fall I changed to a rich darker blue. I have some navy outfits in addition to the lighter blues.

I guess I am a "cool grandma."  My thirty-something granddaughter saw a picture of me recently and wrote back: I am obsessed with your hair!

So there.

@zitawins  how often do you go for touchups?  doesn't the blue dye fade?

Re: Jewel Tone Hair Color

I don't care for the hairstyle but I love that purple!  I started having fun colored highlights, off and on, when DD was in cosmetology school.  I mostly did one or two peek-a-boo highlights, and they were mostly dark purple or burgundy - all to help her get her marks. Before I got my hair cut short, I wore feathers too. I'd do either again sometime.

@SilleeMee  You can have semi permanent dye put on.  I colored the teen neighbors hair in June when she got out of school for the summer.  It washed out in a few weeks.  Unbelievable that Tuesday school starts again...Go for it ....DW

@dancingwoman

Yes, I was thinking about a semi-permanent color product like maybe a conditioner that you leave in and rinse out.  No idea which one to get though. Need to do some research.

@SilleeMee  The one I used on her I had around for quite a while.  She has dark brown hair.  I didn't bleach her hair like some do.  I just mixed the color with conditioner and applied it in sections.  It looked nice.  There are so many products out there now.  Maybe talk to however cuts your hair or maybe go to Sally's Beauty Supply...DW
