I most definitely remember the original lotion!  My mom used it and I remember that there was always a bottle of it on the bathroom counter.  I loved the scent.  It's one of two scents I remember about my mom, Jergen's lotion and the scent of her Noxema compact powder.

I remember.  However, Jergens Cherry Almond Lotion is still available.  I've bought it from time to time.

Re: Jergen's The Original Scent Cherry Almond Perfume

There was a family in the neighborhood where I was born that had children that my siblings & I played with. When we moved to a new neighborhood, they moved there months later. Our families remained friends for decades and when we moved away again, we still saw them on a regular basis. Like an extended family.

The mother was legally blind. She had gone to a school for the blind, learned braille, etc. but she married and had a wonderful family. That mother used Jergen's Cherry Almond lotion. When I stayed at their house, the mother would brush my long hair, and I could smell the Cherry Almond. She was so kind, so calm, and so brave. I spent the summer there one year, & I felt at home. (Her kids stayed at our house, too.)

When I was in college & when I married, she knitted afghans for me, and I could still smell the Jergen's Cherry Almond.

When I've wanted to feel that nostalgia and serenity, I've purchased Jergen's Cherry Almond Lotion.

I'll keep my eye out for the perfume because the scent brings back nice memories.

I most certainly do remember the original scent, which was labeled just "almond", as in almond extract, but smelled just like marachino cherries.  It was that way for many years.  I was disappointed when they changed the scent.  They must have had a bunch of requests for the original scent.

@Desert Lily

I love your story. Fragrance can evoke such strong emotions and memories. What decade do you remember most about this family? Yesterday my daughter sent me an Instagram read about military children, of which I am.  It reminded me of watching my dad leave the house every morning in his uniform and the smell of the lush green grass of Kentucky in the spring. This was in the '60s.  I'll have to ask my mother if she ever used this lotion.
