When I first got mine it was filled to the brim but I already knew it might settle either because Josie mentioned it or perhaps there was something that came with it that said so. If I remember correctly it's because it's whipped it has air in it. I sat mine down hard on the counter just to see what would happen and sure enough it dropped down by at least half an inch. I use it after showering in the morning on my arms and legs and neck but I can't honestly say it absorbs quickly, in fact I always have to wash my hands after applying because they have an oily sticky sheen on them. So do my arms and legs but eventually that seems to go away and my skin just feels smooth, but I wouldn't for example put on a silk blouse immediately after applying as I'd worry about getting an oily stain on it. it. As someone said, a little goes a long way, it melts like butter in a warm pan when you start rubbing it in and spreading over your body. In spite of all this I do like it because it does make my arms and legs feel smooth especially in the winter when I get flaky, probably because of the heat in the house drying out everything including me. I have the unscented one.

Thanks for your replies. I did not know that the butters were sold by weight. And I certainly did not give a thought about the "whipped" consistency! Now it makes sense to me. Now,--about the lack of scent.........................

I was also upset about the no scent when I ordered from hautelook-the body butter was supposed to smell like roses and it has no scent and certainly not even close to smelling like a rose...............
