If I was once famous and beautiful and not any longer either, I would live far, far away from that ideal.

We -- the consumers -- can change this cultural obsession with age but we've chosen to live with it, then grumble.

We're young once, middle aged once, and old once--and lucky to be any of them. Make some wonderful memories and quit worrying about being however old you are!
Wise words !!!

period. Male or female. Who really wants to get old? You can talking about "croning ceremonies," and the "new age" but it doesn't change anything. Male actors may be able to "keep going," but even they get shut out of roles eventually. Only a select few "keep on going."
As for aging. . .
I don't blame people. Who wants to face mortality? Very few. Be honest. So once you get past that idea, you do what you can. For some, it is cosmetic surgery. It's not my call. Or anyone else's. If that makes them happy, great. People get all hung up on hair dyeing, too. Again, not your call.
However, it is far worse to die young and not have had a chance at life.

The more i hear about california - esp. LA the less I think I would want to live there. One of my cousins lives in San Diego and it is the same there - constantly chasing youth and beauty. What a terrible way to live.
Are you talking about San Diego CITY or San Diego COUNTY? The city of San Diego is big; the county of San Diego is massive. I live in the city of San Diego (which is part of San Diego county), and I don't see anything out of the ordinary. As I mentioned in another thread (many months ago), I look around and I see that am pretty much the only one with a lot of makeup on (always wearing makeup when I go to work -- consisting of moisturizer, foundation or bb cream, nude shadow, and a light blush; on weekends and when go hiking, only moisturizer and SPF).
You're probably talking about the city of La Jolla or very small group of people within the community of Kensington (both of which are part of San Diego county).

As a woman in my 20s trying to break into acting in the 80s, I could tell stories but I won't. Trust me, that industry awful on women in general.
Rununculus,
I want to hear the stories.

I would take my money and run and live a normal nice life.
