I think , just like everything else, different taste. Some people think the heavily made up look with the fake lashes etc is attractive, others prefer a natural look.

Case in point, one of the hosts who up until a couple of years ago had a fresh youthful pretty feminine look. Then went down the Bette Davis in Whatever Happened To Baby Jane makeup path. Aged herself about 20 years, well maybe only IMO.

Actually, now that I've become older, I wear more makeup, just apply it with a much lighter hand.

One of his fashion rule should be to let the host speak!! I normally don't watch his show on Mondays but did last night what a mess it was.  He wouldn't let Amy talk at all. He kept interrupting her when trying to give details about the product.
