Marketing isn't done for the 60+ crowd. Advertisers for most things truly do not care about your opinions anymore. You're not spending the money. Sorry, not sorry.

Why am I not surprised? Thankfully, my friends have some class and show respect. People use this offensive language to be noticed because they lack self esteem.

@RetRN, you don't know me but imply that I lack class, respect, and self-esteem because I expressed my opinion about a word?

Something's upside down here.

Re: Is this name necessary?

[ Edited ]

What's worse is that the scent doens't live up to the name...it STINKS. OMG, does it. But like the old sayings go:

A fool and her/his money....

There's a fool born every minute....

I hit enter by accident. What I was going to also type was I truly believe that many are buying if BECAUSE of the name and not due to the quality of the product. Marketing genius.

Don’t make blanket statements. I am well over sixty and probably spend more money on makeup and serums than you make in a year. There goes your theory.

Sorry, not sorry!

The Business of Fashion website has an interesting article about the marketing of Tom Ford's beauty empire:

Apparently Estee Lauder wasn't keen on using the you-know-what name on the Tom Ford fragrance but changed their mind when the fragrance sold out and broke sales records. But they do disguise the name for conservative markets in overseas countries.

I imagine that the customer that Tom Ford and Estee Lauder are after are the millennial and younger social media young men and women who spend all of their time on instagram and other social media platforms.

I don't currently own or use any Estee Lauder brands of fragrance. I also think that the Tom Ford summery fragrances named after Italian vacation destinations are rip off fragrances of Estee Lauder's Bobbi Brown's Beach fragrance, just at a much higher price point. I also think that Beach is copying the original Coppertone suntan lotion scent which everyone used when they were a kid or smelled when they were at the beach during the summer.

Why? Because some people have a broad instead of limited vocabulary and don't need to use vulgar language

Don't use the word nor do those around me (and I certainly have never heard it in our office setting) but I am not offended by those who choose to use it.  Different vocabularies for different folks. Smiley Happy

The reason this word offends me is I feel in my heart it offends God.   Words need to be chosen carefully, imo.   I cannot say I have never used  the da--  word but I try not to.  When I have.... it was to express anger.  There are better ways and better words out there to express what we are feeling at the moment.  To me the f-bomb (or worse yet) the mother f bomb is a filthy word.  I was taught at a young age that what comes out of our mouths is eventually what fills our hearts. I have found it to be true.
