I posted about a pale pink setting powder a day or two ago. It is Holika Holika Strawberry Pore Magic Cover Powder SPF50. It is a cute little round container (between a golf ball and a tennis ball size) with a small puff. The powder is great because it covers your pores, sets your mu and has the SPF50. It can be ordered from ebay and most run around 10.00-13.00. If you were in a hurry costsell.com on ebay sells it for 18.99 and they ship from the US. Otherwise it takes about 3 weeks to get it.

Thanks for the info Kat. Although I didn't ask the question, I have been looking for the same thing.

I was "this close" to trying the Elf SPF 45 powder, but there were too many complaints that is it too orange for lighter skin tones.

I found the Holika Holika on ebay for $11.69 from a US seller. Since I have a very light complexion with pink undertones, it sounds like it's just what I've been looking for!

You are very welcome. I would look at some of the other products as well. They have some great products at reasonable pricing. I love that you can get samples for just a couple of dollars. Missha has great BB Cream and Skinfood is a lot of natural products that I've been trying. Mizon is also a great brand.

Re: Is there a Powder SPF you really like?

HI everyone,

Just getting a chance to check back in. Thank you for all the replies.

I just wanted to reiterate that I'm not looking for a replacement for my current sunscreen-which I use every day. I also try to keep a body sunscreen of some sort in my car/bag, especially this time of year for those impromptu moments that one does not always plan for. I'm really asking about something added-something MU-related-that I can dust on my face and chest, when my regular SPF is not with me (keep in mind that I apply/use every single day, on hands, face, chest). And now that the weather is warming, and I'm wearing things that expose my arms more, it will be applied to arms, etc.

Now, I have to go read everyone's replies in detail and take notes! I'll be back (spoken in that Terminator voice)...{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I've been wanting to try the Colorescience Sunforgettable Mineral Makeup, it comes in a brush like the PTR and they have spf 30 and 50 but it's kind of pricey..

I *think* this is the one I just read about somewhere in a magazine. I will have to go investigate the price.

Hi Kat-For some reason it is not letting me Quote right now--anyhoo, YES, I investigated this the other night after your post about it. It looks like it would be right up my alley in terms of what I want to hide my huge pores. And the added benefit of SPF is nice. I think I'm going to "watch" it on ebay.

There is NO powder that provides serious SPF protection. It would have to contain at least 12% zinc oxide, AND it would also have to be applied heavily enough to do the job. Titanium dioxide is in a lot of brands, but it's not a big-deal sunscreen.

Despite the best efforts of companies around the world, there's no replacement for an avobenzone or zinc oxide sunscreen (min of 12%) sunscreen that's applied properly.

Ahhh, now it's working! Yes, blah, I've read this, too. And like I said, I'm not going to be depending upon it for my regular, daily sunscreen. However, I like the idea of the PTR powder type one that I could dust on ON TOP of what I have already applied if I want to make sure I'm covered.

Colorescience is not inexpensive but it has been around for some time and has a loyal following which speaks to it's effectiveness.. I'm guessing $50 something plus from the last time I saw it at my salon but I could be way off.

If you have anywhere locally where you could try it on your skin, I think that would be a good idea before purchasing on ebay. I say that because some MM can accentuate fine lines and pores and if this one does that even a little bit, you might not want to buy it (before trying) from somewhere you can't return it. Just a suggestion as I'd hate to see you stuck with something that even on ebay might not be that cheap. It may be great with lines and pores but not all MM are unfortunately.

Some higher end hair salons carry this brand here so maybe there might be some that also do near where you live - or Sephora, Blue Mercury, Ulta, etc.

Re: Is there a Powder SPF you really like?

Hi Wackers-My DH is the ebay-er in this family-not me. So I think I've only every purchased 3-4 things from ebay over the years and only one of which was MU or beauty related (it was a WEN product). I agree that it can be so difficult to purchase MU products this way. But then the flip side is that if it's a winner--it's GREAT! I think the product is from Korea and it is available on Amazon, but it's pricey. I liked the idea of this one from Kat's review of it the other day, but I think I would be interested in it only for the pore-hiding quality. I think this is a bit of a different animal than the SPF I'm looking for in this thread.

I keep one in my car---Bare Minerals with the brush.

Does PTR test on animals?
