Re: Is spackle the same as primer?

I recall when she first launched the product, it was marketed as a primer.  Seems to have morphed since then.

I have tried her spackle several times over the years, it just isn't for me. I do not like the way it makes my skin feel.

Same here. Tried it only once, about 20 years ago, because it came with some other LG products I bought. Yuck. Felt like polyurathane on my face, and like it was suffocating my skin. I had no need for it either...didn't make my makeup on me any better. I'm a LG fan of her other products, but not that. But then....I've never been a liquid foundation gal either...less is more on me, and I don't have lots to cover up, such as spots, freckles etc. I don't like the feel of heavy foundation either. I will use a tinted BB cream sometimes for a more made up look for evening if I want.

Yes, Spackle is primer.  Supposedly Laura Geller was the first to come up with the primer concept, but who knows if that's true?  Over the years she has made more options (blurring, hydrating, champagne glow, rosy glow, bronzing, etc.), but at the heart of all of them is to prime the face for foundation.

@JeanLouiseFinch  Yes, I agree.

I've used several different versions of Spackle. I use it under my makeup and like it.

So many layers--day cream, primer, foundation, concealer, blush, setting powder.................My very old dry skin does better without the primer.

All the cosmetic brands have primer of some sort.

Re: Is spackle the same as primer?

@Another new name Sue - I believe they are the same. I wear Laura Geller's Champagne Spackle almost every day, even when I'm not wearing makeup (which is rare). I also like RMS Beauty's primer, so I sometimes wear that one.

Laura tells the story about how she came up with Spackle. One of her clients, a famous news personality, called her one day and said she'd better bring some Spackle. Layð5

I can tell when I don't put primer on before my makeup. My makeup looks better and seems to last longer. Smiley Happy

Re: Is spackle the same as primer?

Another new name Sue - Yes, spackle and primer same thing. I bought Geller's

spackle a few weeks back - 2 tubes for $36 - I wish I hadn't bought it,

I notice no difference in pore size, whatsoever.
