They could have aired Mally's final show without her if she had to leave for some unexpected reason but QVC could see that the TSV was not selling well and possibly many of her other on air presentations that day weren't either. The Q is all about sale numbers and if they see that the TSV is not bringing in the sales they had hoped for, they change ships very quickly. There overall goal is "sales for the day", however they get them so they switch programming to try to increase total numbers.
I don't think the pre-sales have a single thing to do with it. People can get excited about an upcoming TSV and that can spread to others ............. look at how that happens every time with upcoming Skinn TSV's and Isomers over at ShopHQ who does not offer any kind of advanced sales. Yet the anticipation of what those TSV's will be gets a lot of attention, attracting potential buyers with each mention of it. They then are ready to buy when the day comes.
I don't get how not allowing pre-sales to everyone has anything to do with the success or failure of any TSV. Obviously Mally's TSV was somewhat a flop and that could be due to a myriad of reasons ........ customers not wanting to spend the $$, not having the $$, not liking the kit overall, already owning too many of the products, not liking anything Mally, and on and on. It could have been any TSV in the beauty category that day that failed. Pre-sales are just not a factor, imo.

I haven't been posting as much as I usually do because I'm completely exhausted!
We were all sick with the stomach virus during Christmas Vacation and now we're back to work. Work has been crazier than ever. I just don't have a lot of extra time in the morning to post right now... Also, I haven't seen that many interesting topics to post about lately. I guess people are just busy or fed up...

Wackers, I agree much of what you say. Long before there was an Insider and sneak peaks at TSVs, lively conversations about favorite brands upcoming appearances could be found on this board. This was particularly true if the brand had a midnight show scheduled. Presales have no impact on the success of a TSV because the overwhelming number of QVC shoppers don't see it until it airs. I would dare to assume that even amongst those who had presale opportunities chose to wait to see the presentation before buying.
I believe that any TSV which doesn't sell out is considered to be a failure. When QVC buys 50,000 units of an item they want to sell 55,000 with 5,000 on waitlist. I honestly was not following the sale of Mally's TSV because I had no interest in it. I saw it presented on the Morning Show, but after that did not tune into any of the shows where it was featured. If I'm understanding correctly that the final show was cancelled that speaks volumes that QVC was extremely disappointed. Mally's assistant who stands in for her in overnight hours would have been available to fill in if Mally had to leave before the final show if QVC had wanted to air it.
As for the tone of the boards, there have always been hosts threads, but less of these one time or OT off topics which have nothing to do with products sold by QVC or anyone else. There's far too many of those and some of them have hundreds of responses. To keep things fresh and evolving I think that once a thread hits 500 responses it should not be able to accept new posts. Usually the topic of the original poster is long gone and some other topic (good or bad) has begun.

I kinda attributed that to not being able to share advance sale #s. Those used to get me excited & chatty. Now I just wait til TSV day & have been largely underwhelmed.I'm not really a regular on the beauty boards, but have to say I think ALL the boards have been dull as dirt for the past few weeks. Sure, some of it's winter, harsh weather, being buy over the holidays and post holiday blahs, but I also think some of it has a lot to do with how really dull QVC and the programming have gotten and has been for far too long, with no relief in sight.
It also seems that as the extent of product repetition increases and they're showing the same few items over and over again, there's simply that much less to talk about...
