Interesting observation of make up

[ Edited ]

Yesterday, I attended a mandatory all day seminar with 3 coworkers. They can get pretty boring and none of us are used to sitting all day like that, so I started to take a sweep of faces - (95% women) to distract myself to see how many were wearing make up and how much.   The 3 coworkers (52, 65, 54) wear no makeup at all - face totally naked.  Not even lip stick...just chapstick - well except one, she wears lipstick only. They have never worn makeup, so I can't imagine them with it.

The women at the table with us (3 others), same thing - naked faces.  I was the only one with lipstick, blush, mascara.  Actually, most of the women were not wearing makeup at all.  A few colleagues from other agencies were there and they are close to my age (69) and they were naked faced.  The younger women, just very little. Enough to give cheek and lip color.  None of those ridiculous lashes or sparkly makeup.  Then again, maybe they save it for night wear.

I found it interesting...looks like I'm not the only one who does not have hours to sit in front of a mirror painting up!

I won't take the trash out to  the curb without "basic makeup".    There's always an early morning dog-walker out...and stopping to chat.

I am VERY pale, kinda like Morticia Addams (or "death warmed over")...

Re: Interesting observation of make up

I've seen more women not wearing make-up these days.

I used to wear it and now many days I don't at all, especially if just going to the store or a drs appointment or lunch with my daughter.

On special occasions I do, or just if I happen to feel like it.

I always admire seeing women with pretty makeup though and I think they must enjoy it and feel more comfortable or at their best that way and don't want to abandon it.

I just don't always feel like bothering.

@on the bay   Me too - in a lot of places. I still wear the basics (blush, mascara, under eye liner, lips) but that's it. Anything that takes more than 5 minutes is too much for me.

I mostly see the flamboyant makeup on the high schoolers - boy do I remember those days!

Full face here, minimum 5 days a wk. I am very insecure about my sun and tanning bed damage. I just feel more confident with it for work, but outside of the office I always wear BM tinted gel with spf and a little concealer if needed.  Eyebrows are almost always a "must" for me these days.

Re: Interesting observation of make up

I can do a full face of mineral powder, eyebrows, liner, shadow mascara (including eyelash curler) and blush.  Lip balm and lipstick in the car before I get out....in 5 mins.

My hair, shoulder length, takes no time, don't even need to comb or brush (believe me, if it did, I'd do it!).

Must've been a pretty boring meeting, huh?Woman LOL

@Lucky Charm   It was ok at the start but it was 5 hours of training and we were toast at 2 hours!

edited to add that wow, that's really good to manage it in the car!  My daughter (44) does the same thing. No time with the kids in the morning, so parking lot at work...5 minutes too

Re: Interesting observation of make up

The majority of females I see while out about wear makeup. It may also be a regional thing. I've been in different parts of the United States and notice that some areas of the country don't seem to put much effort into cosmetics. We make time for what's important to us.

Re: Interesting observation of make up

Where I worked wearing makeup wasn't compatible with the work environment so I never wore any to work. None of my coworkers wore it either. That was b/c of the job and not b/c of personal choices.
