All I got from the article was she referred to him as her "husband" because she felt that they had that connection. I'm not aware that she went around lying about her marital status. If she wants to call the man she loves "husband," that is her right and harms no one else, just as it is their right to manage their relationship and parenthood as they see fit.
The days when people pursed their lips and wagged their fingers around all the time is thankfully almost forgotten -- almost.
