First let me say this is not a WEN bashing post. I am a fan, I've used it on and off for a few years now.I love what it does for my hair..That said, I see a specialist for hair loss that I have had since I've been in my 20's due to a metabolic syndrome. I see my Dr. usually once a year for this issue. I have been on a waitlist to get in to see a new Dr., a specialist that is considered one of the top doctor's in my state and I've waited a very long time for this appointment. I wanted to post this info for any women out there who reads this forum and has thinning hair for whatever reason. My treatments aside, I wanted to talk about shampoo and if it is or isn't that important when your dealing with hair loss. I've been told by another Dr it isn't that important what type of shampoo you use as long as it cleans the scalp. This Dr like many other is very busy so we weren't on the subject for long. I told him I used WEN and asked for his thoughts on cleansing conditioners. He said if it's working for you it's fine to continue using it.He did say my hair looked healthy which was nice but he did say he never recommends a cream based shampoo (his words) when patients are dealing with hairloss. He told me to wash with a clear shampoo (any brand) at lest twice a week if I was going to continue using WEN. He also said that he isn't saying any cream based shampoo from any brand would cause negative effects or more hair loss but if I want to have the best results I can have with my topical treatment (it's a popular liquid hair los tx.)I need to cleanse the scalp with a clear shampoo and condition only the ends. He said ever regular conditioners can be a problem for hair loss if they too frequently come in contact with the scalp..I hope this information is useful to anyone out there suffering from hair loss. I have no plans to stop using WEN but I will do what my Dr says and see how that goes. I hope this post doesn't get misconstrued in any way and I truly hope it can be useful information to some.
