Re: Inexpensive Make Up Lines

@Toppers3  Oooh I like the fact that it comes every quarter as opposed to most beauty boxes that come in every month- this will give me something to look forward to every season Smiley Happy.  I also like the  fact that the subscriber fills out a profile of preferences for the beauty box- it makes it more tailor made to the subscriber's needs.  I love trying new beauty products and getting samples, so this is right up my alley. Maybe I'll even find some new favorite products through the beauty box subscription. This is what I like about the QVC forums- I learn new things everyday from all of you lovely forum posters! @justashopper

Great topic!  Until the last year or so I've only used higher end cosmetics, but because of participating on this beauty forum, I've been trying some less expensive, drugstore brands, too.  I've liked some and thrown away some.

I like IT Cosmetics, NARS, Tarte, Benefit, Too Faced, among others I can't think of at this moment.

I've been buying a lot of e.l.f. lately and really like it.

@Toppers3

You mentioned using e.l.f. brushes.  How well do they perform? I was looking at them at Ulta yesterday, but only through the package.  I've always loved my IT brushes,but have heard good things about the e.l.f. brushes. They looked cheap to me, so I'd be curious to know your thoughts?  I do use a number of e.l.f. cosmetics, especially the putty products.  Please let me know your thoughts.

Re: Inexpensive Make Up Lines

Not Topper, but I have e.l.f. brushes: concealer brush, ultimate blend brush, which is larger, and eyeshadow brushes. I have had most of these over a year and they're still holding up well. They also do a nice job blending.

I wash them in dish soap every week, rinse then let them air day. I don't want to spend a lot fo money on brushes when these work just fine.

@teganslaw

Thanks for the feedback!  I was looking at the putty brush trio set.  For $12 I suppose if they don't hold up, at least I only spent $12.

High end.  I just like it.  I like the experience (same with skin care).  I even appreciate the packaging/containers.  I spent most of my makeup wearing years wearing drugstore till I discovered Sephora (inside JC Pennys) right before Covid.  There IS a difference.  I'm super pleased with what I have.  If I ever have to buy makeup again (it should be at least 10 years!) it will most likely be drugstore because DH is retiring in Jan 2024..

Re: Inexpensive Make Up Lines

Hi @SurferWife ,

I've had the same experience as teganslaw, except I've been using their blush brushes in particular.

The reason that I wanted to try them is because I had heard good things about their brand too, and because the brushes were inexpensive, too.

I wanted to get a couple of their brushes for what you normally could pay for one brush elsewhere.

I'm not into high end brushes.  I don't know why.  The Real Technique and Elf brushes seem to do the job just fine for me.  I have also bought a couple of brushes from Amazon.  The most recent is this copy of the BK Beauty 109 brush.  I don't have it yet.  It's a #1 bestseller and cost $9.89.

@SurferWife. I prefer IT brushes, but for the price, elf brushes are fine. I don’t think anything beats the IT (or IT for Ulta) foundation brushes, I’m lazy about cleaning them so for me, there’s something to be said for cheaper brushes.
