Important! anyone returning Hairmax

I returned my Hairmax a month before 180 days. It's being returned to me because CS told me it was over 30 days. I asked CS to get a supervisor but she refused so I called again and was told a supervisor would call me back. Also emailed Beth at QVC online.

It's already on it's way back to me. QVC will send someone to pick it up. So two weeks after return I will get refund.

If anyone returns Hairmax please call the Q ahead of time so this doesn't happen to you.

I found out my hair loss is from either lupus or Sjogren's syndrome. Chief of dermatology at Mass General told me Hairmax will only get one some minimal growth and cost would pay for a couple lazer treatments in her office. She sees people who've tried it with minimal results.

Hair regrowth won't be the same for everyone who uses the HM comb. Some may have minimal regrowth and some more. That's just the way it is and there's no way to predict that unless you try it. That's why they have the extended return policy for that device. The 6-month return policy is the same on HM's website also.

The return is advertised as 180 days. You should not have to explain your medical situation and why you are returning the item within the understood 180 days.

HairMax and Q need to do the right thing and customers should not have to take the process to management to get a positive resolution.

Re: Important! anyone returning Hairmax

Hairmax and similar only work on female and male pattern baldness. Both are claimed to be hereditary.  It is not recommended for medical issues.  Hopefully, the doctor was clear about it not working well for them, but does work for male and female pattern baldness.

A neighbor using it for about a year who was diagnosed with female pattern baldness by a biopsy of her scalp is very pleased with hers.  She said in about two months, her hair stopped falling out and she noticed a bit of growth around her hairline.  At four months, more areas of her scalp were showing growth.  After 8 months, she was very pleased with how much her hair had grown in.

Hair lasers can help regrow hair for people with certain medical conditions, but not all. For instance, if you have thyroid issues, are experiencing hair loss and have your thyroid levels normal with meds then the laser can help you regrow what you lost. Some autoimmune conditions, for example scleroderma in my case, will show regrowth with laser treatment as well. Having a medical condition doesn't necessarily mean a laser won't work. That depends on what kind of condition you have.

Re: Important! anyone returning Hairmax

I have Sjogren's syndrome. The doctor I saw has a national reputation. She said lazer would work on me and that she's not sure if my hair loss is female pattern baldness or Sjogren's syndrome. I don't have the scarring one sees with Sjogren's or lupus. She said lazer works but the lazer in the Hairmax simply isn't strong enough to do a good job.

The lazer she uses is 100 times the strengh of the Hairmax.

Many of her patients have actually brought the Hairmax for her to see and she tested it.

Meanwhile my hair is coming in beautifully. I'm seventy five so genetic hair loss is possible. I had a Sjogren's flare three months ago. It takes three months for hair to grow back.

To SilleeMe@ Scleroderma is a very difficult disease. My close friend's daughter has it. It takes a lot of courage to live with it. Sending you good wishes.

@lavendar

The strength of the laser light emitted onto the skin is the same for each device whether it's at home or at your doctor's office. What is different, however, is the number of lights  used in the devices. For instance, my CapillusPro cap has 270 laser lights whereas my HM comb has only 9. Each laser diode emits a frequency which has to be within a (FDA cleared) specific range in order for it to stimulate hair growth. The doctors don't use 'stronger' lasers. They simply use more of them per square inch on your scalp. I've been at this hair loss thing for a very long time. I have done my homework and have gone to many doctors and hair-loss specialists. So I know what I'm talking about.

Best wishes to you as well and good luck with your hair! Woman Happy

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Re: Important! anyone returning Hairmax

I suspect the cap would be more successful than the Hairmax I got. You have done your homework.

The derm I see now is the third one; I got to her because she runs the Itch clinic at Mass General. Very few derms know how to handle itching.

I had seen two hair specialists previously. I didn't go to her

for my hair. I'd been seeing her for three years and never mentioned it. As an afterthought I brought the box with me.

She didn't say it wouldn't work; she said for the money I'd spent I could get more bang for my buck with an in office lazer. She is a genius at getting insurance coverage. She did look at my scalp and thought my hair looked great for someone with my medical issues.

I had hair loss when I turned fifty so the obvious thing was to say it was female pattern baldness. But I also got very sick at fifty. My hair came back a few years later. I had so much hair to start with that I never looked balding.

This was twenty five years ago. I saw two derms who specialize in hair loss and they took the lazy way out.

I have had alopecia arata; I've been lucky because my hair always grew back.

Thank you for your explanation; you have done your homework.
