If you use Clairol Root Touchup - Have you noticed a change?

Has anyone who recently purchased this product notice a difference in the product? It's NOT the same product. I have been using this for several years now in between hair salon visits and loved it. I normally purchase the light brown color. Several weeks ago, I used it and noticed the color did not look the same when I was putting in on my hair. I also noticed the consistency was very runny not to mention that it had a strong hair color odor. I just thought I had purchased maybe an old or bad batch. However, I did my hair again about a week ago and had the exact same experience. My roots did not look good at all and had a red tint to it that I never experienced before. My sister also uses this product and called me up and was complaining about the exact same issues I had. I noticed that the boxes I purchased are brand new with a different model on the front. So, after doing a little online research, I found out that Coty purchased Clairol about a year ago. This may explain the change. I'm going to now use my Joan Rivers hair powder exclusively now until my next hair salon visits.

Someone on here recommended Just for Men beard touch up.  Works great and you don't have to make a whole batch for the roots.  a tube of that lasts a long time for me.

funinthesun - Interesting concept...never thought of that. I used to love to do my roots with the touchup color and then add my Joan Rivers powder throughout and it really gave me a nice look and I could hold out a nice length of time before visiting my salon. So disappointed with these companies selling out and ruining a once great product. I just won't purchase any longer.

I noticed for a time it was hard to find the product and then they put a different model on the front. Hmmmm

It seems that every time Coty touches one of their new purchases they make the product awful..... just saying....

Clairol hair color has been made in Mexico for at least 5 years now due to NAFTA. Proctor & Gamble moved their manufacturing from the U.S. to Mexico but prices did not go down for the U.S. or the Canadian customer. You can try doing a root touchup with half a box of hair color, just mix the appropriate amount in a spare applicator bottle or if you are using a bowl and brush method, use a small china dish or a hair coloring bowl you can get from Sally Beauty.

Proctor and Gamble sold a lot of their beauty line to Coty including Clairol hair products and Covergirl makeup. Don't expect any corporate synergy savings to be passed along to the customer though. I have noticed in Canada that now the selection of Covergirl makeup has dropped and with hair color, the selection of the Natural Instincts line of hair color has been cut down as well.

Coty already owns the Sally Hansen, OPI, and Nicole by OPI nail polishes as well as the Rimmel line of cosmetics. They are also one of the biggest fragrance manufacturers in the world.

I haven't noticed any difference with the product.  Just used it right before Thanksgiving.
