If you swatch a color on your hand, does it usually work on your face?

I love being able to test products but never like to do it on my face, I think testers are kinda gross. Anyway, I swatched NARS Sin blush on my hand and LOVED it, it's such a dark color though that I wonder if it'll look good on. What's been your experience? ETA: my title was meant to say " if you like the swatch on your hand, does it work in your face". I wish we could edit post titles!
