If I loose weight, will my wedding rings fit again?

Do your fingers "gain weight" just like the rest of your body? My engagement ring, wedding band and anniversary ring doesn't fit any more. I was thinking about getting them resized but I've heard horror stories about places taking the real diamonds out and putting fake ones in. Yes, it was actually on the news here not so long ago.
