This is just one of the many articles that you can find about how long to keep makeup products.
I know that it isn't easy to do but if you try to just buy what you need you will end up with much fresher makeup products.
I didn't check that article, but I've seen others. I think some overstate the whole expiration thing. I do not throw out powder-based cosmetics that often. Actually, the only cosmetic I would dump that quickly is mascara.

I agree with the OP!
We are bombarded with stuff! Just try going to the store to buy a pair of sneakers. OMG! I remember when there were 2 or 3 brands. Yeah, I'm old!

I totally agree. I posted recently how I cleaned out my stash of make up and skincare and how good it felt. I just had too much of everything and was sick of looking at drawers and cabinets filled with products that I didn't really need or really hadn't performed any miracles for me. And like you, how many of the same basic shades of lipstick, foundation and blush do I really need that I keep buying different brands of! I am really using what I have and have even discovered things I like that I had forgotten about in all the clutter. Yes, simple is definitely better. Good luck to all the posters trying to get real with themselves about their cosmetics

I hear ya! Just purged a HUGE AMOUNT of 'stuff' - scared me to death how much money just 'went out the door'! NO MORE hoarding or buying just because it's a good deal or a great 'kit'. FELT MUCH LIGHTER once it was gone!

I have a ton of makeup and am starting to come to the same conclusion. Despite having a multitude of choices, I tend to reach for a handful of favorites. Less is more. I am going to simplify, too.

I use one concealer, one eyeliner, one mascara and one powder. Where I value choice is in cheek and lip color

I have a small backup and that's it for "stash".
It's not like I can run out to ULTA when I need to. That takes a planned trip.
I've learned to be happy with my gwp's, use them up and then move on to something else when the mood strikes.
I love my cash more than I love my mu.

I bought Philosophy blush, eye shadows, and other items when Big Lots had them for $3.00.I once heard the pur minerals rep say that it didn't expire because there was no water in their formulation. I think the general rule otherwise, for unopened makeup, is probably about 2 years
