Re: I really need help wih my nails..........

Interesting that bone broth was mentioned. I work with a ferret rescue and have seven of my own. Every day they get a slurry that is blended chicken and ferret food. Some cook bones until they are soft enough to be blended with the chicken. Hadn't thought of adding the bone broth to my diet but now I'm interested in doing that.

I have had awful nails since I took acrylics off a couple years ago, have tried a lot of these suggestions, and enjoy reading your comments.

I have vertical ridges on my nails. Anyone got any suggestions about a treatment to get rid of them? I know how to hide the ridges, but I'd rather fix them or supply them with whatever nutrition they need to grow normally like they used to.

I have that same problem with my thumb nails. I file them with my nail file which cannot be good for them but after so long they need something. Wish I had another solution. Maybe someone out there has the answer.

According to Google, Vertical ridges in the nail is usually harmless and is caused by aging. I have them too and I'm no longer young. {#emotions_dlg.w00t} I have found the best thing is to keep nails cut to the end of my fingers, otherwise they split in the ridge and peel.

Another vote for Duri Rejuvacote (I think it was Shelbelle that got me started on it years ago, actually). I thoroughly treat my bare nails with an oily moisturizer, then rinse and wipe any residue from around the cuticles with a towel. I apply one thick coat of the Duri, then my polish, then a top coat of the Julep clear coat. A few minutes with my nails under a 60W bulb, and they are dry and set. Very little touch up for a full week. That Julep (sold here on the Q) really keeps my polish on better than anything!

I just ordered Duri after doing a search on the BB over the weekend. Am so glad we have the ability to take a look at what was posted 3-4 years ago. Have hopes for this product and expect it to arrive first of next week (Ebay purchase).
