I agree with a spray version just to increase coverage. There are times with old school lotions where you miss a spot of skin and can tell after one comes in for the day. The backs of arms and the like. Most sunscreens on the market are great now and are about equal. The trick is to use a high SPF, apply 30 minutes before going out into the sun, and apply every hour or so to keep it fresh and defend against places where sweat and water has washed it away. I love the spray for kids as they move around so much! I do like ones formulated for sweat and water proof and don't block pores for use on the face. I do like Neutrogena but purchased some of Paula's for my trip. I will probably use both.

My dermatologist recommended Ocean Potion some years ago. I still use it. It's a drugstore product, but sometimes hard to find. I usually get it through drugstore.com.
I've been wearing sunscreen on my face every day for years. My favorite is Paula's Choice.

I put it on the back of my hand and it didn't seem too white. I gave it to my daughter who is working as a life guard this summer. I thought a bonus for my teenager was the bottle turns blue if there are UV rays--it seemed to have the teenage dummy factor--if bottle is blue, you should put it on!
That is a great product! Simple, not irritating, just plain works. If someone asked me to recommend a drug-store sunscreen, the Blue Lizard sensitive is the one I would recommend.

Allure also has an article this month. However, imo, they rarely get seriously into the chemical vs. physical aspect.

Thank you all for your input on this thread! What great info. I just ordered the EltaMD clear 46 to use on my face. I have been using Cetaphil's oil-free 30 spf on my face and have been pretty happy with it although lately it seems to make my skin a bit more oily (and it didn't do that before). I wanted something non-oily, good for sensitive skin, with a matte finish - the EltaMD looks just the ticket.
I think I will try a spray type for my body - possibly the Neutrogena Dry Touch. Does that sink in pretty quickly? I can't stand the feel of lotions, sunscreens, etc. that don't sink into my skin right away. I fell in love with Vaseline's spray and go moisturizer this winter and would love to find a sunscreen that dries so fast similar to that.

EltaMD 46 will change your opinion of sunscreen. Their sunscreens really are in another league. I wish I could help you on the spray, hopefully someone else can.
