Re: I had a haircut appt. yesterday and no one called

@Lipstickdiva  I know salon owners can't get unemployment, but it would seem a stylist who rents space in a salon can.  The owners can apply for the business stimulus loans.  The way my state officials keep explaining the loans that if the money is used for payroll and rent it can be considered a federal grant instead of a loan.  It may be far more complicated than this, so I wouldn't take that perspective to the bank.

@Naturesbeauty @Snoops  Woman LOL thanks for the laugh!  Snoops in case some have forgotten Crystal Gayle she was a pretty decent singer who had a string of country hits in the late 1970s, but was more famous for her beautiful waist length hair, and being Loretta Lynn's little sister.

Off topic a little, but a hair pndering nonetheless: I wonder how the QVC/HSN brunette hosts are keeping those blonde streaks and tips going.  Some of my friends who have this type of dye job (and are gray to boot) are reporting their color is fading into a mess now.  Luckily they are laughing at themselves and not really complaining.

Re: I had a haircut appt. yesterday and no one called

My stylist actually texted me to let me know they'd been ordered to shut down operations.  I got my last haircut less than a week before she had to close the doors.  I live in a very rural area of east Texas.  I know this virus has no boundaries but people here just aren't taking this as serious as other parts of the state/country.  Today when I did a Walmart pickup and because I had to wait 2 days to pick up my order instead of the same day (if I ordered about midnight to 2am), I expected to see the pickup area full.  We were the only car.  I was also surprised to see the parking lot looking fairly normal Smiley Surprised  I wouldn't dare go into WM right now!  I guess I would if it was an emergency but I'd have a mask and gloves on!

Re: I had a haircut appt. yesterday and no one called

During my last hair appointment in March, the stylist said she'd be doing hair appointments in her house if she's not allowed to work at the salon.  My next appointment is in late May.  I really don't want to go to her house. . .wherever that is. . .so I'll probably go with dark roots for a while.  I'll just have to wait and see how things are at that time.  Getting highlights isn't that important to me--definitely not worth risking exposure to COVID-19--although I do understand her need to continue drawing a paycheck.

Yes, my salon is closed. Has been for about 3 weeks now. The state closed them all down, as well as nail salons.

I really feel for all the folks who have lost their jobs because of this. Not only are they unemployed right now, they also have no idea when they might be able to go back to work.

I was so envious of her hair growing up.  Mine is waist length all my life, Crystal's is a tad bit longer @Trix .  Can you imagine washing that?

@beckyb1012  I can't imagine taking care of hair as long as Crystal Gayle's.  I could understand a professional cringing at the challenge of working with that much hair.

@AnikaBrodieThanks for posting the recent picture of Crystal.

@San Antonio Gal  Her hair appears to be in pretty good condition.  I would think it has to be colored, and if it is, it looks like whoever does it is doing a good job.  Good for her.  It is her "trademark" if you will.

Re: I had a haircut appt. yesterday and no one called

I sure hope the government helps out the beauty salons.  I can't imagine being out of work for over a month with no pay.  A lot of people live paycheck to paycheck so I hope the Stimulus Package check is enough for everyone receiving it.
