I had a sun spot on my cheek. It was the size of a dime and i hated it. I go every year to the derm for a checkup. Two years ago when I was there i said isnt there anything you can do to lighten this? well, she zapped it with cryo, like she did all my other spots. Lol. It lighetned considerable after 2 weeks. You could hardly notice it. Last year I went back and told her to zap it again....after 2 weeks it was entirely gone. She wasnt sure it would work, but it did. It was not expensive as it was the same way she treated all my other pre cancerous spots.

I had two of these keratoses (sp?) frozen off with liquid nitrogen years and years ago. They came back a few years later in the same exact spots on my forehead. Maybe the doctor didn't go deep enough, who knows? I just live with them as I usually wear bangs anyway.

All I can say is be aggressive in setting up skin checks. We always hear about light complections, light hair and light skin. I did not fit the skin cancer criteria.

Something weird happened to my post so I’m fixing it. In any case, I wanted to write that I had melanoma despite the fact that I don’t fit the typical profile. Fortunately, I did go to the dermatologist regularly. It’s been almost 18 years ssince my melanoma surgery. I go for skin check ups twice each year.
