@Jordan2   Good work!    Sure beats getting in the car, and going from store to store to find a "deal"....

@Jordan2   Oh, sorry you're caught up in exactly what the makeup/skincare companies hope you'd do.

Every time I declutter and see so much that I rarely use, I kick myself in the bu*t!!! I try to stay away from sale emails, limit my watching the makeup influencers and YOUTUBE is the worst if trying to control makeup purchases. too.

I HAVE to purchase for my work, but limit what I have at home.

I think makeup is one of those many things we buy because they are pretty.  Aside the promise of beauty and success they all push, makeup back in the day did not come in rainbow colors and colorful packaging.

It's the same thing with, believe it or not INK.  Fountain pen ink comes in hundreds of colors now, and people have enormous collections and buy every new one they possibly can.

Having worked as part of my job in graphic arts, having decks and big books of colors and tints I used daily, etc. I look at them and see mostly the same colors being repackaged and sold with new names.  And I'm to that point with a lot of makeup.

Do you keep buying the same color of lipstick or other item?  Get out a bunch of them and see if that is what is happening.  Is it more marketing than product and how really different are they?

I had an intervention on this with me years ago and it took me a long time to understand what I was doing.

I think haters need to not read this because I've said this before:

Please learn your skintone and level of makeup that you're comfortable with and stay there....tweak as we age. Try not to venture into darker blushes or lips, heavy smokey eyes, etc. if you've never worn, tried or liked that look before. You definitely won't like it now.

Find what makes you look natural, well groomed and appropriate for your age and especially for the age/condition of your skin. Wrinkles/crows feet? Stay away from highlighter placed there and please learn blush placement...high on the cheek and 2 fingers away from your nose unless you like the Aunt Betty look. Uh, obvious contouring and bronzer that's too dark placed all over the face is no longer "IN"...especially as we get older. I also think dark, winged liner is not a good look after a certain age.

SKINCARE: Save your time and money. Expensive isn't always better. No creams will raise jowels, fix sagging necks, hooded lids, etc. When faces age and lose volume...fillers, sometimes lasers or surgery are what takes that away.

Find a simple morning and evening routine that you can afford and works. If it gets too complicated with many serums, steps, etc. you'll be apt to not stick with it. Consistency is the key to good skin. Any derm worth their salt with tell you to cleanse, moisturize, treat and protect. That's all you need. If your routine works for your skin, don't keep purchasing the next best false promise products. Look for the buzz words: anit-aging, lifting, "in 4 weeks", volumizing and reduce "sagging or wrinkling".

My preaching has been proven by clients and docs. The skincare industry makes billions selling products with false promises.

My 75th birthday is Thursday (!!!!). I can afford, and am given, the highest priced moisturizers and lines of skincare, but I don't use them. They're not always better. I look at ingredients and effectiveness for my skin at my age.

The most important lesson I've learned dealing with hundreds of women, is to accept the aging process. We're all beautiful in our unique way and instead of trying to stop aging (not possibel anyway), find a natural makeup look that's not what we wore when we were 40 or 50. It will definitely age us. The same with hairstyles. If you haven't changed your hair in a decade, it may be time to look at Pinterest and go to your stylist with pics. IMO a stiff, hair sprayed style is not attractive as we get older. Go with your natural texture, lay off the hot tools every day, deep condition and lighten your color if very dark. I learned for myself that when my hair got too long that I always wore it up or back, it may be time to think about a cut that's a bit shorter.

Please appreciate and thank God for the fact that we ARE aging. What a blessing to still be here!!!

@Jordan2 That is a great looking set!

I think every peice is something that I would use, so I have it in my cart.

I declutter what I don't use, but that won't stop me from buying things that I do want or will use.

I'm not being manipulated by Musings of a Muse (I love her.) or makeup companies.

I like makeup!

I am a lot more careful of what I buy now that I am older, but I say that set is worth it!

@Jordan2 @Shanus   I just dipped my toe into getting some makeup.  I normally wear nothing due to allergies.

Bought some Laura Geller baked stuff ......on sale of course.

@Dusty1 I'm sorry to be an enabler! Of all the makeup categories I think I love lip products best. I think maybe buying a lipgloss perks me up when I'm feeling sad, it doesn't cost that much and it's better than buying something I don't need to eat! Also, this is a great set!

@Shanus

I must truly be "healed".  I still enjoy watching makeup videos (but more dog and real-estate vids now) and am not "influenced".  Of course I take full responsibility if I make a purchase!  I went searching for some CP lippies on eBay and found repeats of 3 favorite colors.
