I LOVED Philosophy's Falling in Love.... but has this happened to you?

I bought the last TSV in Falling in Love, which I used to buy quite a few years ago and loved. We moved, had to cancel auto deliveries and am now just getting to the point where I thought that TSV would be marvelous. A supersized PERFUME, a shower scrub and a whipped body lotion. Thought I was in heaven when it came. It had the same great scent, perhaps not quite as strong as before but I was happy.

Now I'm a little more than half way through the set and the whipped body lotion HAS NO SCENT WHATSOEVER. I'm not kidding. I even screwed down the cap for a few days so that when I opened it I would be hit with the scent like I was when I got it!! NOTHING. No scent... nothing! I've never had this happen before with any other product. Also, the perfume (I have 1/4 left of the bottle) and it is taking more and more sprays to have the fragrance last even an hour. I'm shocked that they can label this a Perfume.

The shower scrub is the only one that still has the same fragrance strength (which also wasn't strong to begin with) it came with initially. I thought I was losing it until I made DH smell everything and he couldn't believe it. WHAT HAPPENED?? Nearly $100 for these products only to get disappearing scents? Am I the only one? Has this happened to anyone else? Was it a bad batch? What is going on??

I want to trust this brand again, but it's going to be hard.

Hi-Although I haven't had this experience, there are lots of ladies here who have complained about that same thing. That's why the purchase of Super Sizes is so tricky. I have a Pure Grace jumbo mama lotion that I'm still using AND it still smells PERFECT. Guess when I purchased it? Almost 4 years ago!{#emotions_dlg.scared} I have just a tiny bit left of the bottle, but I'm using it up now and it is just wonderful. I even wrote when I opened on the bottom of the bottle in sharpie (I do this some times to better gauge how I go through things.) Didn't realize it was that old! Marked 7/10.

I've also heard other complaints but I, personally, haven't had any negative experiences with any of the Philosophy fragrances. The only problem I have is storage because I buy so many. Keep in mind that I do make a point to shake my lotions/scrubs/perfumes on a regular basis. I "tap" the whipped cream though I'm sure that is probably pointless since it's so thick that it rarely moves lol. Whether or not this has any impact on the fragrance lasting? I don't know, but with as many products as I buy surely if there was a chronic quality issue I would have had at least one bad one, and I havent.

I used to love FIL. Bought it for me & my Daughter for years. I was always on one AD or another for this. Then one shipment arrived and it didn't have much scent, and the scent also did not last. I thought I got a dud, so I exchanged. Same thing. Last year I tried once again. Something has changed. I assume that when Coty bought the company they messed with the formula. I won't try again.

Yes, I agree that when Coty bought the company everything went downhill in a major way. The 3 in 1s smell like the plastic bottle they are packaged in. Too bad!!

Cristina Carlino actually cared. She cared about the people the products served. She flat out said several times ""Not everything is for everyone"". Ethical and truthful. She apparently wanted to be with her family more and sold the company. Huge mistake. She should have had them sign some sort of clause in a contract promising to keep the ingredients of the products the same and integrity of the company or null the sale. Just my two cents. These people now say we must all have everything to avoid the dreaded aging. We are all aging. The scents of the products have changed due to a higher alcohol percentage and a ingredient list would be changed I'd bet. I jumped ship to L'Occitane Perfumes and Josie Maran for Skin care. I recommend to all Jump ship. She'll never be back to uphold the one time superb ethics of the company and its products standards.

AH HA~! Thank you Ladies, I CAN date all this to when Christina Carlino left and Coty took over.

The same thing happened with Ojon Moisturizing Spray when the fellow who owned it sold the company, the Moisturizing Spray (which was incredible) changed and no longer was the same product! The ladies here complained so loudly that the new company brought back the old formulation!! However it's no longer on the Q and harder to find even at Sephora.

Regarding the Philosophy FIL older products. I had an old jar of Body Cream under the counter for a long time. Never really used it. We moved... fast forward about four years and I brought that danged jar with us. Opened it up and the scent was still delightful! The cream had kind of separated and looked a little darker so I threw it away... but the fragrance was still wonderful.

I'm so disgusted by what has happened that there will be no more purchases of Philosophy for me. I've used Estee Lauder since the mid-70's (the Estee' Perfume) and it's never changed (lol... except the price! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}).... no problem going back to that....

I totally relate to your post... and when the 5 easy pays came on today and I thought about buying the FIL kit with my order and then removed it because of what you are saying. I think this happened to me before Cody bought the line and it was with the fragrance spray... it just didn't last/hold it's fragrance... and I really really like the fragrance so it is a total bummer
