How to soothe corner of eye irritation from eye watering?

[ Edited ]

For some reason the corner of one or both of my eyes water and the area becomes dry and irritated from me drying it. I've used Vaseline and Aquaphor but I only get temporary relief. Any other suggestions for what I can try? BTW, I don't know why the eye watering occurs as it's random and I haven't used any new eye makeup or skin care products. And I've had my annual eye exam and my eyes are fine. TIA ladies!

I hope that you will see an ophthalmologist if this continues. It is best to rule out a medical condition or, if need be, receive treatment for the excessive eye watering.

Intermittent watery eyes could be a sign of early stages of dry-eye disease which is a normal part of aging. I would have my eyes checked for that. In the meantime, don't use any retinol or tretinoin anywhere near your eyes and cleanse with only cool water w/mild cleanser.

What works for me is a tiny tiny drop of organic castor oil gently rubbed into the area for a couple of seconds.  For me, works like a charm.

Please see a doctor. Dry eye will make your eyes water. An eye allergy might do the same. Or it could be so many other things. What you are putting near your eyes might be making it worse. Warm water on a wash cloth might help.

This sounds very similar to what I am going through right now except my entire eye waters to the point where my vision is blurred. The whites of my eyes are completely bloodshot. I went to my eye surgeon yesterday. He said for me, it is a combination of allery and dry eye. I do suffer from dry eye and glaucoma. The glaucoma drops make my eyes even drier. He has got me on preservative free artifical tears and a prescription drop that contains a steroid and antibiotic to prevent infection. He also suggested Pataway for my allergies. I do use Vaseline at night to prevent the skin around my eye from drying.  I strongly suggest that you see your eye doctor. I started out like you but waited too long to see my doctor.

Myophthalmologist recommended a heated eye wrap for my eyes at night.  Made a huge difference!

I don't know what to attribute it to but it happens to my outer corners on occasion.  When it does, I press one of my oils on the area  - a very tiny amount so it doesn't seep into the eye, split between both ring fingers and pressed on.  I usually choose jojoba oil or raw coconut oil as they both have wound healing properties.

Go to a professional!  This is no place for medical advice.

Endorsing what @brandiwine wrote. Your vision is too precious for treatment advice from a forum. The excess watering is of much more concern than a dry spot on your skin.  This is not normal and requires medical attention. I hope that you see an ophthalmologist for a diagnosis and treatment.
